Pets given as Xmax Gifts send in up Shelters

That is so sad.

I always hate that when pets are given as a gift. Unless they are 100% sure it is going to be taken care of.
 
This is why I am against giving pets as gifts , they end up being in shelters . Pets are living animals and they should not be given as gifts as if they're a cute toy.

I had clients that where given birds as a gift from their family and some clients did not want a bird to take care of. It was too much work for them.

Unfortunately a lot of people think it's cute to put a red ribbon on puppy or kitten and give it as a 'gift'. They never stop think how big that cute puppy could get or that cute kitten will be a cat with claws . Shelters should find out why a person is adopting a pet at Christmas time.
 
It really is sad when something like this happens. Poor animals...they should be in a loving home not kicked out of a home...

thats why id never ever sell my german pointer
she;s a pain but i know sbhe'd die in hands of other cuz pointers are the easiest , very stubborn but loving dogs.....its not the lack of dogs love, its the stubbornnes that irks ignorant humans....so im keeping her forever...
 
there is one good way we can do best to reduce this sort of thing to happen is that you can discourage 'christmas puppys'
they often have the worst outcomes, so please help changer people's minds about doing a xmas puppy its a sure way to disappointment.
it might seem bad, to spoil a Christmas hype but animals' lives......indeed less heartbreak for all

I agree with you , I use another forum that it's for pets and people think it cute to give pets as Xmas gifts. If someone really want to give a puppy for a gift they should ask the person if they would like a puppy and what kind of puppy they want. The puppies are the one that the worst end of this , they end up in a kill shelter especially if they're a black puppy. :(

Me too. One of my 4 cats are really difficult well maybe two of them are difficult. Its my fault for taking more than two cats. So Ill do my best to take care of them as much as I can.

Im done adopting the animals for now. but i do not trust myelf that i will adopt animals again in the near future for a small dog. :lol:

If I had my own house with a good size yard and more $$$ I would adopt some black dogs . People are afraid of black dogs so I would feel safe too. Some people where afraid of my big goofy black standard poodle , Finlay . A guy from UPS delivering a dog crate would not come into my house when he saw Finlay.
 
My last boy loves Cats....and was given a kitten at Xmas....and you guessed it...the kitten is at my house now.....Just like a 2 year old, getting into everything that she should not get into....:roll:....eats and poops m ore than any animal I've ever had!....(no, she doesn't have worms)....

She's won me over tho'....gave me a "kiss" last night, then flipped her tail and tried to claw me...:giggle:..My doggie loves her...even tho' she beats my doggie up....and I'll admit it...I do too...So she's got a home.

I cannot visit the Shelters anymore...too depressing...when are people gonna learn to spay and neuter their animals....and adults using birth control themselves.....wishful thinking.

That kitty was lucky and was not shipped off to a shelter . Pets re also send to shelters or dumped on side of the road when their owners dies or the pet get too sick and old to care for. One of my city ACO found two older dogs that dumped of at a gas station. I saw the dogs and they where so sweet and cute. The ACO found a new home for both dogs , both dogs where taken together . The ACO told me she would not let the dogs separated as is bad enough being dumped on the street. The mayor fired the ACO because she did not like her . I was so upset when I heard that , that ACO was the best one our city had . She would drive around on her own free time looking for lost or abandoned pets.

Not really why lots of people are not fan of adopting black animals, due to the photograph issue, and some people are afraid of black cats for bad luck or many stupid reasons.

I have one black kitty. I must admit that its hard to take a picture of my black kitty. She's a very hard to be noticable at home. :eek3: She's my little runt kitty!

Rabbit, and ducks is much worse during Easter time! Sad? Yup! They were cute when they are baby but they aren't when they turn into adult.
 
I usually take in animals that either no one knows how to take care of or no one wants them for soe reason. Like the eclectus parrot i got a few days ago. It was left on pet store because no one wnated it and the pet store had no freaking idea (and did not tey to research) how to take care of her. They didnt even know it was a her. So i brought her hoe. She is still a little down, but seems to be doing better.

i adore adult rabbits and ducks...nothing wrong with them!

but no i don't wanna here.....if i had a child, and they want one, then maybe.(i used to have pet rabbits (white, all of them, had several)...I'd teach them what's important about rabbits , one sad thing though is that they tend to die from diarrhea, not sure why.
