It's done this before without breaking, so I hope it will be OK. Since most of the water froze on the outside there wasn't much expansion on the inside. In fact, there is still a little water trickling thru.

The NWS says that the Chicago area will have at least two more nights of below zero temps, and not only that, we're also expected to have wind chills 5-15 degrees below zero, so this makes for a dangerous night tonight and tomorrow night. As for Thursday, that's not yet determined.
 
My work and my son's school opened on time. Whoa...leaving the house at 6:15 am this morning was brutal!

Was a 2 hour delay here today ... a 3 hour delay yesterday ... and a 2 hour delay tomorrow ... the school system sent the automated thing out to all parents to let the kids stay inside until the bus gets there that the driver will honk the horn and wait on them so they won't have to stand out in the cold.

Definitely a 2 hour delay at my work and my son's school would have made more sense than opening on time or closing for a whole day. I was shocked that both counties opened on time. My son survived walking to school in that cold so he is ok. I was so worried about him and I made sure that he was dressed warmly, told him to make sure his head and hands were covered. He didn't understand why I was making a big fuss about it before I left for work. When I got home, he understood why!

Many schools around here will be open tomorrow, after two days of closure due to the extreme temperatures, but tomorrow is supposed to be better, but not as cold, though.

There's an update from Southern IL-- my stepmom says the roads are really SLICK, and I've just told her to stay home and to not go out if she doesn't need to.

Very unusual cold in my area today - 21 F.

It took minute to put coat, glove and beanie on. I don't have boot. :lol:

No, I means 21 F, not (-).

I just put hyphen in middle, not negative.

If -21 is happening so South Carolina will freezing too. :lol:
 
Lowest temperature in Birmingham is -6 F and it was on January 21, 1985 and during 1993 blizzard, it was 2 F.

Be glad you haven't yet reached where we went-- as low as -15 yesterday, and more subzero temps tonight and tomorrow night, but let's hope you're able to keep that cold away.
 
It's sooo cold out my dog does not want to stay outside long enough to pee. I can't wait till winter is over! UGH!

Lot of that going on around here. Hopefully tomorrow will be better during the day. It's supposed to get up to 14 tomorrow.

it's going to 24 degree tomorrow then drop down to 11 degree at night. I heard it will get into the 50 later this week , that is a heat wave! I been keeping the doors to under my kitchen sink open so the heat can get to the water pipes .
