good point

Well i am in Southern California the O.C infact. I love to read draw dance learn new languages and travel I would love to chat or Skype if you have the patience for me. My Skype name is marlen2461

There has to be a lot of places in California to meet deaf or hoh people to sign with. There are centers for deaf and hoh that you can go , I went to one in Berkeley and took as class in ASL.

Well my ASL class had us go to the Starbucks' deaf night and I met some cool people but since I fell off the face of the earth I lost touch. And am really rusty with my sign so I am kinda hesitant on going. But I know with some practice I will be able to go again.

As I always say with envy... you're in Cali... HUGE deaf community... I'm jealous of you... darn you... living in Cali... Seriously, the deaf community there is GIANORMOUS! I'm always shocked when people say they haven't met or seen deaf people around... like WTF are you not leaving your house!? =P hehe... Welcome by the way. =D

Yes I know I'm just a bit shy I guess that's why I just want to make a friend and Skype to practice maybe I will go to the deaf and hoh events and pray for patience.

lol well most of the deaf and HoH events... most of the people are more oral now a days it seems... so that's just what I noticed. I see ASL has dropped a lot... maybe it's just me. I found a deaf coffee day I went to here not toooooo long ago. When I went, it was a bunch of deaf people with C.I's and H.A.'s, nobody really using ASL. I was very disappointed. I didn't stay, I bought coffee like I was there to get coffee and left. Sad times. =/

Oh that's sucks I haven't been in sooo long and the stopped having the one by my house. Im curious now I think I might go to one soon and if I chicken out just get something and leave. Btw so are you deaf?

I am "HoH" but can hear with the assistance of H.A.'s... somewhat... ( I identify as deaf ) I don't believe in that whole HOH / deaf separation. I just lump everyone together as deaf. =P Hehe... Why complicate things in life? Looking into a middle ear implant or possible C.I. in the near future... Probably the Middle ear though, I want to save the C.I. as a very last resort.

I wouldn't say I chickened out per se, nor would you. Just leave it as, I don't want to talk all the time. I go "voice off" most of the time, I don't want to be oral... I want to sign... so if they're all mainly oral, that's not really going to work for me not liking to talk. =P hehe

I grew up in California, I don't see deaf people everyday there. They're all spread out in the state. I do often see hearing people who know a little sign language.

I saw deaf people everywhere when I was there. I suppose it depends on the area you're in as well. Almost every store I went to and everything... Was so awesome... =P
