Help Keep AllDeaf Free By Making A Donation

Dear ADers,

AllDeaf.com, the world's largest deaf forum, has been free for everyone to use since its inception back in 2002, and I would like to keep it that way.

However, due to the high costs of maintaining the site (web space, bandwidth, software upgrades), I'm asking for your support by making a donation to help pay for the monthly server fees and keep AllDeaf free to everyone. Donate any amount that you can, whether it's $5, $10, $50, etc. Any amount would help a lot, really.

As an extra bonus, by donating a minimum of $20 (optional), you will get a premium membership account which will have the following forum benefits.

1.) Your username listed under "Premium Members" at AllDeaf.com - Show Groups
2.) Your avatar's max size is 140x140 instead of 125x125 (reg. users)
3.) Increased PM box space to 500 instead of 200 (reg. users)
4.) Upload up to 1,000 album pictures instead of 500 (reg. users)
5.) Custom "V.I.P. Member" graphic below your user title
6.) Can have 2 Images in our signature area
7.) Can upload animated avatar (reg. users can't)
8.) Access to the "premium" forums (Make Money Online, V.I.P Lounge - TBA)
9.) Other future forum benefits

Please send your donations via PayPal by clicking here: http://www.alldeaf.com/payments.php

If you prefer to send a check or money order, please PM me for my information.

Thank you for your continued support of AllDeaf.com

Update: For those that want to know, see the dedicated server specs at: Server Specifications

Then go to my parent hosting company's website at Welcome to SoftLayer and you'll see that a dedicated server with the same specs as mine will come to almost $400 a month.

Here's the breakdown:

$400 X 12 months = $4,800
Yearly Domain Renewal = $10.20
Yearly Forum License Renewal = $60
The yearly total = $4,870.20

The members (45) listed in this thread have donated about $20 each. Total comes to about $900 for both 2007 and 2008.

If you do the math, you'll understand why I have the donations thread here. I've been paying mostly out of my pocket for almost 7 years (2002) to keep AD running. It's up to members if they want to help out, or not.

Have a great day!

I would be glad if I can support the site. I understand the need for volunteer support. I should think of what to do cuz I am not US citizen.

I would like to see the site live not dead. Great idea,Alex

Not on AllDeaf, no, sorry. That's why I created TagDeaf.com so that members can do whatever they want with their profile.

Which picture space do you speak of? Avatar? Profile picture? Or the upload feature? I already added another forum benefit -- avatar max size up to 140x140 instead of 125x125 (reg. users).

Thanks.

I would like to help out to donate too but not sure about how to send money oversea from Australia as I have never done it before. Post Office here say money order is only within Australia. I ask my bank about sending a bank cheque but they say within Australia only too. I did look at paypal but I am too weary about using credit card online. I want to know has anybody use paypal before and is it safe? How do I know it is a real protective site to use? I know that I am asking some questions here but I want to make sure it is absulutely safe 100% and that no one see my personal information online too. I rather be safe than get ripped off. Sorry being a worrywart here.

You can use Western Union. If there is western union service in the banks then contact Alex for details

I've used Paypal before from Australia to buy US goods and I've had no problems with it. In fact, credit card is the safest way in my opinion for overseas transactions because if something funny appears on your statement, you can challenge it and the bank will recharge it back to the merchant promptly. It seems to be harder to challenge funny items on normal bank accounts, you have to wait for them to investigate it before they will give you your money back.

I was wondering, should the mods and admin team's USER ID should be colored so the ad'ers will know them that they are in the mod team? Just an suggestion?

Sure, your welcome.

Alex, You got great idea about donate to support this website, that would perfect to get more support and keep website as free for members.

I think that if forum is become non-free like require to pay an fee to join here, alsoit would help to prevent from scammers to join here.

Alex,

Yeah, I am here to be respect your require them making a donation for save alldeaf forums that I genuinely support..

So MY BIG QUESTION: I am curiously wondering what IF some people keep to send their donation money to alldeaf by every weekly, every monthly, or every years. somehow they had sometime trouble with ad forum's rule. You or Moderators ban some people off from forums for permenant, who did donate their money to alldeaf for every weekly, whatever.. some people are mad and feel waste to donate their money to alldeaf for nothing?

I pay a subscription for the "Pogo" website each year, but I fully understand that if I don't play by the forum rules, cheat or disrupt the community, I will be banned and will not recieve my subscription back. Its my own actions that result in the punishment, so why would I expect them to reimburse me?
If you buy tickets to a hockey game, dance, or movie and you disrupt the venue and get tossed out.. you won't be reimbursed.

Alex, will the premium account require you to make a yearly donation? Will it expire after a certain amount of time? If so, how long will the premium account remail active?
I'll be happy to send a donation to this website, I'll pm you for more information regarding sending funds from Canada..i don't believe we have paypal.

Yeah, but on the other hand dhh people aren't too wealthy. Its a good idear to ask for money, as this site is WICKED popular. But there's a site i lurk at which is a subscription site and its such a pain to read good quality discussions, and not be able to post and contribuate.
I haven't seen too many scammers here, which is good. Most of the scammers either PM or e-mail you.
