I Finally Got a New Macbook Pro!

Lotus? They assemble the computers in the USA, but the parts are made somewhere else. In fact, their computers are partially assembled in different countries then go to the USA for the final assembly.

I'm pretty sure both ZT Systems and Systemax get computer parts from other countries then assemble the computers in the USA. They may not admit it, but it's more than likely that they do.

"Lotus PC does not mass produce computers, rather they carefully hand build their desktop pcs in their Orlando facility. Their laptops are partially assembled overseas, with final assembly in the USA."

You are right about Lotus. Funny thing your lines almost same as one from the website.

Any company that use third world country labour could be accused of the same ethical issues. It's not just Apple.

PC laptop are restrictive too.

Serious, Most pc laptops are junk and short life and still use outdated as power plug which I don't like that idea and it may break so easy.

I love Apple's design as MagSafe which perfect for animal, heavy travel, etc.

Funny thing, Almost all PC laptop users always bring power supply with them all times for just surf, troubleshooting networking, etc and Macbook's battery life last 7 hours and most PC with Intel i5 or i7's battery life last umm 2-3 hours?

I prefer to bring my Macbook to anywhere without the power supply. I think PC laptop are so 90's.

We own Macbook and Macbook Air for almost 5 years and no problem so far. Few of our family/friends just bought brand new PC laptops then died in 1-2 years.

I have to disagree there. This CNET review says

HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx - 513 runtime
Apple MacBook Pro - 418 runtime

But its not really about hardware since most of the components off the shelf these days.

I just dont like supporting apples business ethics and the way it tried to control the consumer. I read this quote one day and it really says to me how apple operates

"Apple is turning consumerism into communism. Any entity that enforces such anti-competitive practices and dictates what their paying population can and cannot have without any explanation, consistency, or reason is communistic. It’s wrong and I will no longer support it."

Im not trying to start a PC vs Mac war its just my thoughts

It's not just you, ausrider. This whole thing is taking the tech world by storm with the recent "Occupy Apple" outbreaks. They are asking Cook to change the old practices laid by Jobs or make them stop assembly/manufacture in poor places like Juarez.

I guess it's really Foxconn that is the problem to be honest, but Apple sees the profit.

Why you compare HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx 17" and Macbook Pro 13" ? Why you dont try compare between HP 17" and Macbook 17"?

You should know that big laptop as 17" mean big battery. Looks at HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx's bigass battery as 100WHr, nine-cell battery.

Macbook Pro 13" is only 63.5WHr lithium-polymer battery.

Don't forget that Macbook 17" got powerful GPU as AMD Radeon HD 6770M and dv7-6b55dx is only Integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000. The Integrated Intel HD is not great for edit video, full HD video, gamer, and CAD. AMD Radeon HD 6770M is very powerful enough for them.

That's why cnet made bad review about dv7-6b55dx's graphic.

"The bad: The dv7's screen is low-resolution for its size and its integrated graphics drag down the performance some."

Macbook Pro 17" up to 1920 by 1200 and dv7-6b55dx up to 1600 by 900.

lol.... it's very simple. Apple has its own style (which you don't like) and PC has its own. You are free to choose whichever you like that fits your needs and requirement.

Apple met my needs beyond my expectation.

Exactly. I happen to love Apple's style (ever since getting my 27" iMac), so it was a no brainer for me. So far, Apple has definitely met my needs beyond my expectations.

All PC notebooks are garbage, I had 4 PC notebooks that broken in less than one year so I switched to MacBook Pro - no problem at all.

The word about restriction is nothing, just nothing.

If you're satisfied, that's all that counts. Enjoy! :)

HP laptops are completely garbage. More often than not, a lot of people I know, their batteries were fried within a year.

Agreed. I've seen the same from HP. I would never buy an HP laptop in a million years.

I've had HP laptops that lasted several years. They didn't die. I merely upgraded, so I gave them away. I have a Samsung netbook that's at least two years old and going strong.

You guys must be rough on your computers.

that's probably cuz you got the product made from that time when products were more reliable.

It wasn't that long ago. I got the netbook two years ago.

Nope, they weren't rough on it at all. All they did was leave it on the desk and work on it on a daily basis. They didn't move it around much.
