I have no urge to watch it. Prefer the original :) What kind of movies do you usually prefer grummer? I watched the trailer for the revenant it looks pretty good.
 
Watched Tim Burton's Coraline, then we watched a DVD of the Celtic Women. Too bad it wasn't captioned, but at least I remembered all the songs and the music. Got chills through it.
 
Watching Coen Brothers' 'True Grit'. I love their films and I like Jeff Bridges too. It's not as good as 'The Big Lebowski' though.
 
I found the rise of planet of the apes to be somewhat interesting blend of traditionality (if theres a such a word) and opinionated historical tranjectoration towards the origion of the Panet or the Apes....put in a slighty different angle, it reinforces the idea that POTA isnt not a product of a parrallel universe...whiile embodying animal rights, evolution matters as a codified aspect to represent dogmatic hgegemonic translation of dominant ideologies, examples including sexism, ageism, even class...even RELIGION !! (as some of you may also be aware of its distorted beliefs of 'God"...heck this itsself could be argued as a metaphor of humans race's errors in thinking of univerise's origins..

im not so sure, probably serious drama, or good quality science ficiotn , and acome good actioners? even horrors but this is more seldom...
 
yes!, see the revenant, it is quite refreshing, even go get Daybreakers..bloody good too

normally i think vampire files are boring, but thus far, exceptions are 'an interview with a vampire', Daybreakers and most recently, the revenant...
you'd then agrree these are 'hits' amongst vampire genres.

Interview with a vampire imo is one of those unbelievably unforgettable films. It was dark beautiful and artistic it was just amazing. from the characters to the story. It is in my top 3 movies of all time (if you couldn't tell). I don't get in to action movies. Just not my thing. I do comedies and crappy b horror films lol. And a lot of sundance films :)

yup! i entirely agree, actually Interview with a vampire is one of my favourite too, i forgot to mention it, and it was going to be in my last essay i wrote a month ago submited and passed but i went with Flatliners and NDE instead of immortality...

dark and beautiful indeed and fairly poetic at times, i lliked the line Armand (Atonito Banderas) said about the irony of ironies concerning living forever...it becomes painful...the film itself showed this well too...but for the essay word limits wasnt on my side (i like Big essays)
theres a few crazy good action film I COULD point out for you to watch, if you asked and i am fussy too...so drop a PM anytime, likewise you could point out some sundance (is that mexican/western?) or am i wrong

The Inbetweeners Movie, had me laughing my arse off :) I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of dirty humour!
 
Watched 'The Extraordinary League of Gentlemen' with my son this morning. He enjoyed it. I didn't. I've read the original comic by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill and the film butchered it.

I watched the movie, "Hugo", which I thought was good. Although I did read the book a few months before watching the movie. They made quite a few changes, for instance, the inspector's role was pretty small, in the movie, they expanded it rather significantly. They removed at least one character entirely from the movie. As a result, they made changes to make the movie flow better due to the removal of the character. There were a lot of changes made to the movie compared to the novel.

Regardless, it's a good movie. Books and movies are two different mediums, you cannot expect them to follow them word-by-word.

Understood. I watch the extras on the DVD after watching the movie and learned that it was the author's best friend who directed the movie and the author was there for the entire filming. I understand that editing has to be done when making an hour and a half movie based on a 300+ page book. On the other hand, because you read the book, you know what events happened chronologically so when it didnt follow the same chronology in the film, it was just noticeable but it didn't detract from what a great film it was.

There are only three movies I've seen in my life that was EXACTLY as how I visualized it when I read the books, To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men and The Grapes of Wrath. And it's wild that two of those movies were by the same author, John Steinbeck, who is one of my favourite writers.
 
To Kill a Mockingbird is a great film adaptation of the novel. "Of Mice and Men", are you referring to the one with Lon Chaney Jr. or the remake starring John Malkovich?

It's noticeable to the readers, that's for certain. I am still hoping for a decent film adaption of the novel, "Fahrenheit 451". The one that was made decades ago is poorly made and resemble very little to the novel itself. It came close to being remade by Frank Darabont years ago but it fell apart.
