Being deaf is

Karrissa helped another deaf individual. Very different situation.

Karrissa is a very polite, non-confrontational person. You are simply reaping the benefit of that. I wouldn't try it with any other Deaf in this forum, unless you want to be told exactly what is thought of your patronizing attitude.

When Karrissa wants help, Karrissa asks for help, through PM. You just stepped up and assumed that she would be oh, so, grateful for this formerly hearing person's advanced knowledge of the English language. Patronizing and insulting.

Go ahead with your superior attitude. It won't get you far. Perhaps instead of all the school marm corrections, you should sit back and learn some things from this forum that you are obviously ignorant about.

I think I said something similar in another thread.

Are you cool with your parents implanting you when you had no say in it resulting in you being crippled when it broke?

Its the parents that decided what they want for their baby. Correct me if I am wrong, but aisn't it the parent's job to think and get whats best for their kid? So, my parents thought getting me an implant was best for me, so boom I got an implant.
If you really think about it, its not really that big of a deal. Cause, if i grew up and love it (as I do) yay for me.
But if i grew up and dont like it (like Deaf Ninja), just dont wear it, it just a piece of metal in your head.

EDit: And dont even brother with my parents "forced" or "brainedwashed" by medical field crap because they did consider having me learn ASL and let me decide when I get older if i want an implant. They researched for a few months before deciding to get me an implant when i was 2.

Then tell me why I know two billionaires that are severely hard-of-hearing or deaf that don't have a CI....

hint: they can afford to obtain the true research, non-biased.

lucky bastards with mad talents!

Wait wait... why arent you a billionaire? Wait wait.. why is there other people with implants that ARE billionaires?! Argument sucked

everyone to their own, my parents THOUGHT and DECIDED that gettting me an implant was the best to do.

Whereas this person's parents:
One of them said to me personally that her people did the research and told her NOT to get a CI.
felt that getting her an implant was not BEST for HER

edit: i guess my parents research was biased. They talked to a few families in town with implants... oh and they also went to the American school for the deaf in Springfield for ASL part of research

There aren't that many billionaires in the world.

Names?

Fine, then the Deaf community doesnt need someone like you. Go off to your hearing world if you think so little of us.

We should keep that around the next time someone asks for an example of audism.

Even if it were possible to cure deafness, it's not something that needs a 'cure'.

Some people are not pleased at walking around with a piece of unneccesary metal in their heads.

Curious: If there were some kind of magic pill that 'cured' deafness before children were even born, would the Deaf community oppose?

(Obviously that's medically impossible, but just for the sake of argument.)
