I'm thinking it'll affect government EMPLOYEES.

Yup, I do feel like odd sometime and I'm no longer to blame on Tea Party only but ALL of conservative and liberal groups.

I'm upset about government shutdown and worries about programs that I need may be affected. You are correct about Republican Party is stand for fiscal responsibility but they are not during 2003-2006 so Democratic Party make no difference from GOP in 2007-2009 and they started spent a lot to help with economy downturn with small successful. Most democrats think that deficit will going down after pay off and cut the deficit after full economy recovery that only left as biggest deficit ever. I'm really doubt that you will guarantee with politician's job over spending bill and deficit has been around for many years, except for late 1990's.

I'm no fan of Tea Party because doesn't agree with their background on spending, unless they are trying to find out to kill the deficit without remove any of welfare programs.

Time for remove the Medicare for all Americans to narrow down the deficit and thanks to skyrocketing in medical cost that make Medicare and Medicaid to spending really A LOT. I don't like this idea but I just want goddamn medical cost to be under control.

I am pretty sure that Medicare is not the issue. Unfortunately, it's credit card and banks. Another issue, retired people have a job awhile young people are struggling to find a job. Believe me or not, retired people makes $60-80,000 a year which included their pension. I am not saying all retired people. I am not making it up.

The main issue is that the top branches of government is never broke or no debt. It's people as middle/lower classes are broke or deep debt. Just keep in your mind, when people buy lottery tickets like PowerBall that makes average 100 millions of dollars in one or two weeks. Paying your property tax is a lot that make the government filthy rich like trillions of dollars or even more. That is part of game in all sides. Again, it's politicians ...are like spoiled children that they are gambling each other politically.

If the laws become friendly for all of us that make us life easier, then we would have made millions of dollars for all of each family. That is not going happen to us, of course, except HR and Senators. That's why the HR and Senators are somewhat afraid to leave their office at the end of the term.

For property tax, I'm sure that you will love Alabama because of much lower property tax and locals are just function so fine. I think about same goes with some southern states, probably SC, Hey Reba, please correct if I'm wrong about property tax in SC.

I'm glad that you said not all retired people. If we ever get to retire, Hubby and I will NOT have a combined retirement income even close to the $60,000 amount.

Property tax isn't bad here. People who live on the beaches and downtown Charleston pay high property taxes. The rest of us, not too bad.

I wish we didn't have an additional personal property tax on the vehicles though. Blah!

At least our van has high mileage, and my Jeep is old, so we are in the lower bracket for those. Hubby's Jeep still pays full price tax.

i wonder how do those fed government employees deal with not paying the bills at home if it happens. :hmm: will those companies screw fed government employyes up or allow them to miss the bills for not paying on time?

Oh interesting, same with residents in city of Birmingham and Jefferson County pay highest property tax due to sewer debt crisis, it means cost twice or near triple, depending on value of house.

Yup, I agree with you about property tax on car, I don't like at all, however we pay much lower but residents in Jefferson County pay $600-$800 per year on nice SUV so we are much less than that, around $150-$200.

The companies will not allow them to miss payments without charging interest and penalties. That includes military families who don't get paid. .

I knew the price of silver would skyrocket because of this, and sure enough, this morning it passed the forty dollar barrier. :)

Texas...

No State income tax
Low biz tax
$65 annual car tax
Property Tax....semi-high.......unless you have a couple of cows or horses. :)

As for the shutdown, maybe it will wake some people up to how much debt we are in. Probably not though.
