Yes, We figured it out that since Sara called Deaf mom as mom in law.

Oh yeah, there was one scene that bothered me a little. The female interpreter shook her head at the deaf character, I forgot which one though. It's just like wagging your finger at someone. The interpreters are supposed to be neutral.
That's what I thought at first, too. But then I realized the head shake was actually a negating movement connected to what she had just signed. I don't remember the exact utterance but I think it was something like, "You aren't telling the truth." So when the terp signed "YOU TELL TRUTH" she was negating that with the head shake. At least, it looked that way. The camera had just changed angles at that point, so I'm not sure.

I was surprised how middle aged Anthony Natale looked. I'm used to seeing him as the golden boy of deaf actors. :giggle:

I thought the same thing at first, but then maybe not so because she shook her head after saying that. It did appear that she was passing judgment down to the suspect though.

:hmm:

Just thought it was interesting to point that out. You could be right though.

Just a little known fact, he grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario. That's where I live. If I'm not mistaken, his parents may be still living here, I don't know if they are still alive though. I know somebody who had them as neighbours.

It did seem to be a split second time lag from her signing to the head movement but it was also when the camera changed focus from facing her to shooting from behind her; it could be an overlap in filming. Hard to say. :dunno:

It's kind of hard to believe that a police interpreter, who is used to many interrogations of deaf people, would make such an obvious ethical mistake.

I tend to think it was a filming continuity slip up.

Cool!

Just a question, is it normal for an interpreter to sit behind the interrogator instead of beside? It occurred to me while I was watching the show.

Well, now you all know the truth about terps. We resent being "invisible," we're conniving, we're underpaid, and we enjoy blowing up deaf people.
