built my new pc 3 week ago lol

Not a bad monitor at all, especially for the price.

I, however, am waiting for the black friday deals. Gonna wait until then to snag a 16:10 monitor for $100 (hopefully 22") -- friend of mine was able to snag three last black friday for $300 total, so hoping to do the same.

I just need opinion about which ratio is best for PC games? 16:9 or 16:10

For me, I prefer 16:10 on PC monitor because I noticed 16:9 seems odd, just not used with it, except for TV and console version.

My personal opinion is that higher resolution is better, period. You have more real estate screen -- 16:9 corresponds to 1920x1080 and 16:10 corresponds to 1920x1200 -- and I like it because then the image doesn't look so squashed.

Plus, you gain a large area to work with -- either in productivity softwares or games --

Oh who am I kidding? I just like higher resolution monitors, period. You are correct that 16:9 looks squashed because it's the most popular format for movies and console games (even though that no console on the market can actually display games at true 1920x1080 or even 1600x1080 resolution.)

When you work with 15" monitors (1024x768) and then go to school to use their 1600x1200 22" monitors, well... the difference is night and day.

But eh, that's just my opinion.

In bold, that's true because console gaming doesn't have enough power to support native 1080p and they are designed for cheaper. I don't know if next-gen consoles in after 2012 may capable to support native 1080p.

My monitor is Dell 22" and max resolution is 1680 x 1050, I bought it in 2008 and loved it.

Yeah, when I heard that the consoles were going to be able to output HD games, I was really excited... until a friend got a PS3 and I tried it out. I saw very little difference, then went online and did my research. Man, was I so disappointed!

If I randomly get access to large amount of money... I'll be getting three 2560x1600 projectors and a whole bunch of top GPU (6970 CF or GTX 585 three way SLI, if necessary) to power that.

Of course, maybe by then I'll be a wizen old fossil with coke bottles as glasses, so who knows.

ah! now i think about black friday for 5770.. i wonder how it much it go down. if its 50 buck that's soo fucking awesome.

Yup, I found same issue with Xbox 360 and tried with my relative's 1080p HDTV with 120 Hz so not impressed with result. That why I became active PC gamer in 2 years ago, there is other reason, better graphic, modding community, trainers, tweaks, etc.

That's nice of your plan to get three projectors and top GPU SLI. I do like SLI too and don't mind to get one if I needed but there is problem with some games won't have much benefits from SLI, especially GTA IV (not know if Rockstars release patch to fix). I'm going let anyone with experience in SLI to say about games that they are playing.

hmm dvi is good enough for hd right.

Yes. DVI = HDMI for all intent and purpose.

Looks like it will be below $100 on black friday. For the past few weeks 5770 has been selling at $125-$135 price range, so I have no doubt that it's going to get lower.

Me? I'm just waiting for a second GTX260 for $40 and SLI them for 5870 level performance! :D

True, but Rockstar is not likely to release a SLI or CF patch for their game -- the reason why their game are so hard on PC is because of very poor console -> PC programming. There are games that look far better with minimal hardware requirements (Mass Effect 2, Dirt 2, etc) -- and they are unlikely to release a CF/SLI patch compatibility because of how badly GTA-IV was pirated. Ah well.

However, SLI/CF compatibility issues has matured greatly in the past -- I cannot vouch for it because I don't have a dual-GPU system -- but I've heard from others. Of course, there are people with issues here and there, but for the most part, installing drivers and/or SLI/CF compat. patch usually fixes most problems.

Again, drivers have matured to the point that microstutter is virtually non-existent. You'd be hard pressed to find microstutter, unless you use a program to measure microstutter.

I'm personally planning on adding a second GTX260 to my system for 5870 level performance come black friday. :)

Hanns G makes some decent monitors. I had one for many years and my mom has it now.

I now have an Acer that I like.

Monitors in general are getting cheaper. I think I paid over $200 for the Hanns G that I had. It would sell for $120 now.

SLI Quad Video cards & 6GB RAM sets up in Massive gaming rig! Not need 8 or 12GB RAM, so 6GB rams is good enough! this's what I learned & received from Hi-ended PC Gamers's comments and feedbacks with encourage through PC forums.

I notice there is message error, Cooler is not NH DH14.. but its actual Intel Extreme Cooler Edition. :D

MDA, I am huge CRAX fan of AMD thingly. I would swap Nvidia for AMD video card but not sure,...time will tells.. I rather stick with Nvidia since I invested $$ into it for years.. So, I am glad they renamed logo in everythings as AMD. However I never understanding why Radeon cards are so expersive then Nvidia cards?

However I never understanding why Radeon cards are so expersive then Nvidia cards?

They have the best graphic card on the market at the moment, plus they had well over 1 year lead on nVidia. While it is true that of this moment nVidia has technically the most powerful single graphic card on the market, the heat and power draw makes it undesirable for many. This is where 5870 comes in; 480 level performance but with less heat and power.

I don't know if you remember back then -- when ATI released their flagship 4870, they were beaten by the newly released GTX275, then GTX280, then GTX285. ATI then released the 4890 to compete with 285 and lowered the prices on 4870 and below.

Point is, both are businesses and both are out to make a profit, not to sell at low prices. Hypothetically speaking, if AMD's bulldozer demolished all Intel processors in almost every category, you can be damn sure they'll jack the prices of their flagship processor to $1000 -- Athlon FX, anyone?
