A Motorcycle Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

In reference to licensing, does your state require a separate skills test and license/endorsement for trikes? South Carolina does. A motorcycle license is not enough for a trike rider.

In California, nope; just your regular driver's license suffices.

That's why it's a good idea to train and practice on the actual bike you will be riding. The instructor can guide your training on your own real-life bike.

that's what additional course is for - MSF'S ERC or Total Control's ARC which I may sign up for in August. Most of time - the students do not know what bike to ride so teaching them on regular 250cc bike is a good way to start it out. From there - they'll get some idea. Some may end up not pursue motorcycling because it may be that it's not what they expected it to be.

Have you ever tried on 2pc leathers, its the snuggest feeling ever. What i love the most with leather is when you move your legs and bottom they stick to the tank and seat so when i corner i dont move about or slide.

Yes i borrowed a friend's one suit piece it's veeeeery nice i want one. maybe get one in winter time.

See in my avatar? That's the one i testing on one piece suit. I loved it!

Then put it on you must buy list, plus when you get one you can start doing track days which are very fun.

already have that plan in my future list.

family and new date is coming first.

If she might ask me to get my bike away from me, We will try to work out but others than that I don't mind to get away from bikes. Family and Love is the first list in my life.

Hillsdale man accused of trying to trick police with license plate device
HILLSDALE — A borough man was arrested for attempting to trick police by installing a James Bond-style device on his motorcycle that concealed his license plate with the flip of a switch, authorities said Thursday.

Ivan Sirka, 21, was riding his flaming red 2002 Honda CR9 motorcycle southbound on the Garden State Parkway around 12:15 p.m. Sunday, when he began tailgating a New Jersey state police car, authorities said.

Sirka followed Trooper Stephen Hoeffner in the left lane for awhile, until Hoeffner switched to the right lane. As Sirka slowly rode past the trooper, Hoeffner noticed the bike did not appear to have a license plate, he said. But as the trooper tried to follow him, Sirka sped away, allegedly hitting speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

Sirka thought he was in the clear, Hoeffner said. He had installed an electronic device known as a license plate flipper, which conceals a license plate as soon as a rider activates a switch on the handle bar, authorities said.

When the switch is activated, the license plate drops down and becomes parallel to the road, making it impossible for police to make out the numbers and letters. When the switch is flicked in another direction, the license plate returns to the normal position, said State Police Capt. Gerald Lewis, who described the device as a "James Bond switch."

"It reminded me of the old Bond movies, where he could hit a switch and his license would disappear or another plate from a different state would pop up," Lewis said.

"He was trying to instigate a pursuit because he knew he had that device," said Hoeffner.

What Sirka didn't know was that Hoeffner had recorded his license plate moments earlier, when he first noticed Sirka pulled over on the shoulder of the parkway entrance ramp at exit 168.

"I saw him making a phone call and I figured, 'Let me get his tag just in case,' because motorcycles fly by us all the time and it's hard to get their license plate numbers that quickly," Hoeffner said.

"I had never seen a device like that, so when he started tailgating me and rode past me, I thought, 'How did he remove his license plate as he was driving behind me?'" he said.

Hoeffner tracked Sirka down at his former home in Lodi and eventually found his new address in Hillsdale.

He was arrested at his home Wednesday and charged with removal or alteration of an identification number, as well as several traffic violations, including speeding and reckless driving.

"When I went to his house, he admitted to driving the motorcycle and tailgating me and he showed us the bike in the garage and how the device works," said Hoeffner, adding that he believed Sirka purchased the device online.

"They sell them on eBay," he said.

A driver was arrested on the New Jersey Turnpike a few years ago for attempting to evade tolls with a similar device, Hoeffner said.

LOL!

see video below on how it works -

TCS and I participated in another PGR mission last night. It was visitation at the funeral home for a retired veteran who was also a Goldwing Club member. We stood the flag line for two hours. Our bodies were aching after. We're gettin' old!

We got caught in a brief rain shower on the ride home. It wasn't too uncomfortable. I was mostly worried about safety. Our area is notorious for road accidents every time there is a little rain. We made it home safely. :)

This is the trike that I think belonged to the deceased. The green color is the color of the Goldwing riders club. The members who attended visitation at the funeral home wore their green shirts.

Notice the floral arrangement in seat. The flags included United States, South Carolina, and The Citadel.

for past few days - I've been considering switching to big-name insurance company for more coverage and peace of mind (i hope). My current insurance is Rider Insurance and I pay $202 a year.

This is what it entails -
-up to $40,000 for damage/theft to my bike
-liability limits for bodily injury in the amount of $15,000 each person, $30,000 each accident, and $5,000 for property damage
-rider accessory package: it will pay up to $8,000 in the event of loss, theft, damage or destruction to accessories, chromed parts and non-standard equipment resulting from an insured peril
-includes Roadside Assistance: towing up to 35 miles, battery jumpstart, emergency fuel, etc.

From Progressive for $227 a year, I get:
-bodily injury & property damage: $250,000/person, $500,000 accident, $100,000 property damage
-pedestrian personal injury protection: $250,000 with $250 deductible and 20% co-pay
-uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury: $50,000 person, $100,000 accident
-uninsured/underinsured motorist property damage: $5,000 with $500 deductible
-collision: $250 deductible
-comprehensive: $250 deductible
-up to $3,000 for accessory coverage
-roadside assistance plus Trip Interruption (they will cover all expenses if my bike broke down during long-distance travel)

see the big difference in terms of coverage and limit? It's a great peace of mind for me since I ride full-time and I live in a very litigious state. I can change any of these options to increase the premium or not. This is nice. I've heard some good reviews about Progressive. I urge you - if you are riding motorcycle a lot, please do not go for cheapest insurance you can get. Paying extra bucks for better insurance coverage will come a long way for you if shit happens.

I did just that. I'v had my insurance at State Farm for 20 years and when I got my bike I just told them what I had to have. Liability on it by itself is $36 and change every 6 months. Didn't have to have collision since I paid cash for my bike when I got it. My bike isn't my main vehicle so I didn't get anything more.

As far as Progressive I've never had it but a friend does and has used that company for many years and I ask them about it when I was searching around for insurance for my nieces car a couple years ago and they said Progressive is a really good company and they never had a problem with them even when they had to file a couple claims.

bloody cheap insurance, in New Zealand it is utter bullshit and extremely expensive like in the tune of 4 to 5 times more just for premium and double or triple for excess.
Id say your planning to switch is a good move like you say you live in sue-happy state, i wouldnt muck around -do it!

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2002 Suzuki Volusia yesterday which I got real good deal.. It's a beautiful bike look like Harley. Big gas tank with Speedometer on top of it (also have LCD screen for fuel level, odometer, and clock).. It have 805cc V-twin water cooled engine, 5 speed tranny, and shaft drive.
Rear swingarm have mono shock hidden in it, no worry about bruising my leg when getting on it. I went over to seller of this motorcycle and looked around and test drove motorcycle. Engine fires up quickly and ran smoothly and somewhat quiet and clutch are so easy to get bike going. Though it's 8 years old and It only have 8,000 miles on it. There are few minor damages which I expected and all are easily repaired. It have removable Mustang seat with sissy bar along with it for passenger.

I planned to bring it home but it rained that day. Tires on motorcycle are worn on rear but some thread on front. I planned to buy new tires.

I have a question to ask about replacement tires. I really want a good Cruiser tires that can handle wet road well and is reasonable priced. I looked through Metzeler. I wanted deep threaded one if possible. What do you recommend??

I posted pics for you to see my "new" Cruiser!
