What do you call a

Soda?
Pop?
Coke?

I notice some people start to ask for COKE to mean all soda. :hmm:

Well if i want coke i call it coke,
If i want lime soda, i call it lime soda,
if i want orangade, I call it Orange juice and soda.
If there is pepsi available instead of coke i call it pepsi.

I call anything sparkling soda :D I'm not allowed to drink it though... :(

Here in Wisconsin, we call it soda although if I want a Coke as opposed to a Pepsi, I'll say Coke.

From what I understand, everyone who lives in Texas calls it Coke.

I don't drink any soda or carbonated drinks, but around here the term tends to be "soda"; in other parts of the state to my experience it has been "pop". When hubby wants "soda" it also specific types of carbonated beverage; "when he says"pop" he means some kinda carbonated beverage besides/other than"soda". So to him, pop and soda are two different kinds. To me, the words are interchangeable. He also sometimes specifies "cola" for brown, fizzy products.

this reminds me of the "bubbler" and "drinking fountain" terms. Around here, "bubbler" proliferates; my aunt from Cal. when she first visited here she had no idea about "bubbler"

:laugh2:

We use the word bubbler here in Milwaukee (Wisconsin) as well. When I was a freshman at my university, someone from out of state asked me where the water fountain was. I responded by saying "The bubbler is on the first floor to your right." She then asked "What's a bubbler?"

In Tennessee, they call it "cold drink".

You can say that again. :laugh2:

One of my TAs at my university mentioned the same thing about the word bubbler. She said the only time she ever heard of that word was when she came to Milwaukee.
