what's your needs? Are you application-heavy? Are you simple-type: some documents, Internet, emails, and movies?

I need a good laptop that can be realiable for real time captioning (Don't think my laptop will be reliable for this), internet (wireless), emails, document typing and movies (but mainly on my main laptop mostly)

what's your budget?

Do you ever buy a GPS for traveling? Which brand do you like? What price do you think that it should be?

I had bought Garmin 200W at $215 on sale from Target last November. You can look for cheaper one between $125 and $175. not so bad.

heyyy that's what I have. Garmin 200 is indeed nice. I didn't cough up extra for 200W

Under $1,000 - I found one for $849 (dell 12")

this is just my preference - normally I don't use "mini" or anything like it as my main computer because my needs is very application-heavy. I require fast CPU + good v-card + big hdd so I go with minimum of 14" widescreen. However - for your needs, it sounds like the mini is good enough for you. I believe it's got 30 days return-policy full refund but you'll have to check on that.

Yes, I got second one when first one was stolen from my SUV. My auto insurance didn't cover it, unfortunately. I had found it at Target sale ad and caught it.

oooohhh yea I remember that story while back. :mad2: to thief.

UJiro I have a 750GB External HDD, I could use for the new mini laptop, the mini laptop would be for travelling/studies purposes since my main laptop is a big one (17" widescreen) and heavy to carry around and I want to leave it at home to be as a main computer while I am at home. So it would be useful for my univeristy studies, prehaps?

si sounds good, I suppose. The reason why I want a big hdd inside laptop is because the applications I use take up a good chunk of space. :mad2:

Yeah. I understand, but my Western Digital 750GB has been good to me since I bought it last month. It's a good one indeed, since it would be useful to put the files into that drive instead of the small 80GB HDD in the mini laptop so to leave the free space for the applications to make it work and whatnot.

if you're highly mobile.... you may want to look into online data back-up like mozy.com. You can retrieve the file online anywhere, anytime.

You agree that. I don't like netbook because CPU performance is slow. I will plan to buy 13.3" and 14.1'' notebook for business trip soon.

I like that, at the least, I don't have to lose any files!
