[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJYFyYGWZcE]scam foiled - YouTube[/ame]

We hate to break it to you, but the world is chock full of unscrupulous people, folk who don't care one bit about screwing you to get ahead. Thankfully, unscrupulousness can be kept in check by vigilantly recording everything that happens to you. We know, the prospect sounds daunting, but a good dash cam will at least keep you covered while driving.

While most of the time your dash cam will record nothing but the drudgeries of daily driving, if you're like this guy, you'll be glad you had it on when something fishy goes down. The setting is a traffic-clogged freeway somewhere, and the characters are played by our dash cam owner and one of those unscrupulous people we were talking about earlier.

Follow the jump to see why it's always good to have a dash cam rolling. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/16/this-is-why-you-need-a-dash-cam-on-at-all-times/

At first, it looked like the car actually rear-ended the car in the front. It's an optical illusion since all of the cars are moving forward, so it looks like the car is moving when in reality it's only the car in the front that is moving. However, by looking at the background and objects, you will notice that they aren't moving at all. So the driver did not move while the car in the front actually rolled back and hit the car.

Yep, the man got busted trying to scam the driver!

Keep in mind, do not recording any police officers front of car camera or your cellphone videorecording and then upload to Youtube is against the law as wiretapping is an illegal.

It depends on the state you live in. From what I gather, it seems that at least three states have laws where you cannot record any on-duty police officer. Frankly, they are only doing it for liability reasons, in other words, covering their ass.

I read customer review about car camera. Police officer wrote it. "Many states" not least three states.

Actually Supreme Court has already upheld the people's rights to record police officer in public.

In a state that made it illegal to record police officer without their knowledge, that law specifically stated that it is actually NOT illegal to video-record them but it's only illegal if audio is recorded. Tricky law but not a big issue on most cases since most of cases are thrown out - just that it's a big headache to fight it.

Whoever wrote that comment is spreading a misinformation/disinformation. in this case, Florida law stated "two-party consent" and since in most cases of pull-over, drivers were never notified about recording so this law is nothing but a fallacy.

Anthony Graber - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On September 27, 2010, some criminal charges against Graber were dropped. Harford County Circuit Court Judge Emory A Plitt Jr. dismissed four of the seven charges filed against Anthony Graber, leaving only traffic code violations. The judge ruled that Maryland's wire tap law allows recording of both voice and sound in areas where privacy cannot be expected and that a police officer on a traffic stop has no expectation of privacy. The court also threw out the charge of "recording illegal activity" on the grounds that the law was unconstitutional, noting that "the video taping of public events is protected under the First Amendment.

That's one is not clear.

This is good one.

Is it illegal to record police

In addition, it is illegal to disclose information one knows or should have known was obtained with an eavesdropping device. Violations of the eavesdropping law are punishable as felonies

BUT
Standard radio scanners are not eavesdropping devices, according to a 1990 decision from an intermediate appellate court. Illinois v. Wilson, 554 N.E.2d 545 (Ill. App. Ct. 1990). A camera is not an eavesdropping device. Cassidy v. ABC, 377 N.E. 2d 126 (Ill. App. Ct. 1978).

I am not sure camera mean photography only, not video.

I have a dash cam in my Jeep, and TCS has a camera on this motorcycle.
