I was visiting Harvest Baptist Church for the Deaf in Ringgold, GA, and noticed in the middle of one of the many conversations that I was signing without speaking or even really thinking about what my next sign was. I was just....speaking in sign like I do in English (Yes, I am a hearie, so I have a right to be proud that I feel like I broke down a barrier in my head). I feel like I have finally breached the one thing between me and excellent grades/relations with the local Deaf community.
PS: Is it really a compliment if a new person (being Deaf) asks me (a hearing person) if I am hearing or deaf? Or am I misinformed?
