Let it default. Then drag the motherfuckers out of the capitol and shoot them in the streets. I'm fed up with this crap.

A revolt! I love it!

2 guns. thousands of ammo. I'm ready. ain't nobody robbing me of anything. :nono:

Obama is going to be on TV tonight then the speaker of the house next! I really do not want to hear who the blame ,I just want both sides to grown up and do something to fix this mess we're in!

And what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure.
- Thomas Jefferson

Wow. Since when did AllDeaf become a bastion of hateful violent rhetoric?

So, what was said? Did not watch as the airplanes screw up the captioning.

Obama chastises republicans, rather eloquently, for only offering compromises that will force the same issue again in six months, showing that they're not really interested in compromise--just in appearing to compromise. He urges both parties to work together because that is why America is great. A good line from this part of the speech: "The American people may have voted for divided government, but they didn’t vote for a dysfunctional government." He also addresses the American people directly and invites them to call their congressmen/women and demand that compromises are made and that congress works together for a long term solution.

Boehner speaks and looks like a ventriloquist's dummy, talking down to the American people, throwing in all sorts of non-related issues like the healthcare bill (sour grapes) and doesn't really make much sense or offer any solid points of logic. Thinly veils the fact that he and other republicans do not care that people's livelihoods are at stake. Basically his words were an oxymoron: we are willing to compromise, but only on our terms.

*Disclaimer* this is in no way an impartial analysis.

I guess we're feeling pessimistic about defaulting and/or having our credit rating cut. I guess we do need a wake-up call. Half of expenses are military? Choices need to be made.

How can Obama be a socialist if he's spending a LOT LESS?

This is because of tax cuts:

If not for tax cuts, we wouldn't be having this problem.

Looks like we watched the same speech.

So where's Obama's plan? What exactly is he proposing?

Well, that's somewhat misleading, since you can't "re-run the economy". So, without those tax cuts, it's certainly possible that the deficit could be much worse, if the lack of tax cuts ended up leading to a larger market collapse or something similar.

(Note: I'm not saying that is the case, I'm saying there's no objective way of knowing whether or not that could have been the case. Second guessing the past is tricky business.)

This whole politics crap is annoying me. At this point, they aren't even arguing what they think is right. Both Democrats and Republicans actually AGREE on what to do, but trying to "sweeten the deal" on their respective ends, i.e. adding stuff to the deal that will help them. This is what I think Obama should do. If there is a reasonable deal that Obama likes (like that 3-1 ratio of revenue/spending deal), Obama should pretend to hate it so that the Republicans can back it up, instead of automatically hating it just because Obama likes it.

That would solve our politics problems.

I dunno. I have the feeling the Republicans will do anything to spite their noses rather than negotiate with an "evil socialist" like Obama.
