Hello everyone!

My name's Derek, and I've been taking American Sign Language for 3 years now, and I was hoping to find some information on becoming a Teacher of the Deaf.
Not an ASL teacher, but teaching regular subjects to Deaf students.

Stuff I really want to know:
Salary per Year
What type of Degree would I need and how many years of schooling?
What exactly do you do as a Teacher of the Deaf?
Are there schools that will can provide an education for this?? and is it expensive?

Please let me know! :)

Thanks a bunch!

I am no expert in this area and I'm sure there will be others that will share their views. Below are some resources that you can review to hopefully gain some insight on what it takes. As far as salary, I would have to imagine that would depend on your location. All the best!!

Hi Derek,

Hats off to your decision. Not many people think towards this. I really appreciate you if you get succeed in this noble cause.

Really, deaf people are ignored when it comes to educational matters. Education to deaf is really necessary as they can have some confidence and can do something good for themselves.

Again a loads of thanks to you.

Are you wanting to be an "oral" teacher of the deaf, or use ASL?
