I am reaching out to gain some insight and understanding into the Deaf community and whether there is some interest in a technology that I am developing.
I have recently graduated from University, finishing a masters in Acoustics and in my final year I developed a device which enabled sound visualisation and localisation. Essentially through combining Augmented reality glasses with microphone technologies we have developed a device which projects holograms around you to indicated where sounds come from. This could be a simple arrow to indicate if someone is calling your or perhaps a heat map to indicate different sounds or other visualisations.
We would really appreciate any advice on whether this would be useful across the Deaf community and to understand exactly how this would actually help in day to day life if so?
