Sorenson shut down SIPRelay on July 31

right but that's not what we were referring to. This thread is about VRS companies. Congress has nothing to do with it. This entire subject is up to FCC as FCC has full authority over it... not Congress. Congress cannot order FCC what to do in this matter. All Congress can do is pass the law and/or attempt to exert influence.

I was referring specifically to this one -

I asked DHB specifically what law. Mr. Hilbok reports to FCC Chairman.... not Congress.

Ah. I'd been wondering. Thanks for the clarification, bro.

You're right, though. Insofar as Congress goes, Congress can only pass resolutions/laws, have it be enforced by the Courts and/or validated by the Courts in addition to being signed by the President.

I was slightly confused by the going back and forth between you two.

Of course, Congress could demand a report from Mr. Hilbok, but by and large, everyone working for the Chairman reports to him... again, unless explicitly called for by Congress.

In that instance, yeah, they'll report to Congress. Otherwise? Big whole nope!

Mr. Hilbok does have a lot more power than you think, actually. I will say one thing though... it is such a shame that Mr. Hilbok's position does not have equally as great a power as that the FCC Chairman has.

In my opinion? It should supersede the FCC Chairman. But again, that's my opinion.

DHB? You need to be more clearer. If you confuse people, you're not going to get your message heard.

This is no good. Be more clearer. Be factual. Then you will be able to get your message heard.

Also, are you under a non-disclosure agreement preventing you from sharing those... supposedly classified details? If not, then why in the hell are you using that justification to be coy and sly with us?

Does the FCC even listen to Mr. Hlibok? What is he doing to help us? Is he speaking up? He's so well known for speaking up at DPN. Is he speaking up now? If he lis, great! However, apparently it isn't working. How can we help?

This is NOT a good thing. Sorenson gave me good service. I'm hoping Purple and Sprint can give me the same.

He can't do by himself alone.

Who can make difference? It is *US* that would make difference, if we all still sleeping, Hlibok wouldn't be able do much because his boss wanted to see his supporter and where he get the support from. If he gets nothing from us, then nothing to his boss eyes.

Too bad there are too many misinformed Deaf and HOH people all across the board. They all seems to think that relay business are in just for profit, nothing else.

Based on my experience, often I get complaints from Deaf customers though Videophone for almost 6 years. I advised them to E mail though VRScomments@sorenson.com and they refused and demand me to make report to my boss, How can I report to my boss without their written document to back up my report to boss? Same idea with Mr. Hlibok, he can't report to his boss what he finds out without black and white paper. You know, talk is cheap and you all proved me right. I have seen and heard enough but I don't have it in black and white paper because majority of them refused e mail to VRScomments because they are too damn lazy or inept with English, and none of you believe me, but what the f... can I do?

Mind you, I DO support their complaint and many of them have valid point yet without black n white paper whats my mouth worth to Sorenson and you guys? Nada? Nothing? of course I am not surprised.

I get paid to do the job, and all of the work that I have done becomes a property of my former employer not me. I do not own the work that I performed with pay. Since my former employer never gave me authorization to release information, then I can't release them.

If I perform job without pay, then I own the information and I can share if I want to.

It is all about respect.

I asked what we could do. Who to complain to, where to complain to to get results?

F C C that is who

There is complaint form at Home | FCC.gov

If you are complaining about particular relay provider, contact them to get E mail address for complaint and write E mail to them. For example Sorenson, that is vrscomments@sorenson.com Perfect example if you were waiting for trainer/installer to come in (Technical support don't come out, but hand down ticket to sales then to trainer/installer) and they never come down. E mail VRScomments@sorenson.com. Complaining directly to Technical support will not do much good. Contact CIR can, but after few attempts, then VRScomments@sorenson.com.

If complaining about general relay service or provider screwing your ass and don't give you resolution, contact complaint to FCC.GOV.

It is not hard to find e mail for complaints for any kinds of companies and government agency. Google up and you shall find answer.

I asked what we could do. Who to complain to, where to complain to to get results?

I would suggest you first read the FCC notice so your complaint is valid and within the reason of the notice to be heard.

Like myself I am voicing that FCC wanted to cut rate which result of the rate cut that every VRS companies may not want to invest any more money into research and development department to create a better VRS devices for the Deaf communities.

Other reason I am voicing is that FCC want to assign only one company to develop a VRS device meaning there will be no competition from other forcing them to complete a better quality devices. We would be stuck with only one same brand devices and since there no competition we cannot compare which would have the best quality service to offer to the Deaf communities. Hearing people have many different brand of computer or cell phone or tablet to choose from and not restricted to one same company designed device. The Deaf people should have the same choice to choose which we like and the quality we want not what FCC want so they can cut the cost.

Also I believe FCC want to use software only or off the shelves devices meaning that most likely Deaf people will have to PAY for the devices and FCC only provide the 10 digit number. No more FREE devices since VRS companies can no longer make or develop or research for Deaf specific devices. Instead Deaf communities will be forced to use or purchase one of the devices designed and marketed for hearing people and adapted to using it.

And lastly it seem that FCC want us to only pick one device and one 10 digit number meaning no more allowing us to use PC for traveling or mobile phone for work or school if we already have a VRS device with 10 digit number at home so I am against that. If hearing people are allow to buy or pick as many cell phone and number they want then same should be allow for Deaf people.

The debate about FCC and Congress ...... FCC does need Congress approve to move on but think about it ....

FCC to Congress : We need to make those changes ..

Congress to FCC: What the Deaf communities think about it?

FCC to Congress: Very small number complaining but it'll save government money!

Congress to FCC : Changes approved!!!!

It can happen so fast since nobody complaining or voicing so Congress think Deaf communities is supportive of this changes instead here we are fighting among each other on who is right on how this system work.

I don't care how the system work, we need to have a VOICE and BE HEARD so that Government know that we will NOT ALLOW changes which make thing worse so it can save $$$ but only the good changes which help the Deaf communities.

VRS industry been working fine for the last 9 or so year, why change it...... Some of you may say it because when VRS companies got busted for stealing but guess what .... when I read the FCC notice I did not see anything that FCC proposed that offer preventive measure for future thief, it was mostly about saving them money so FCC probably could use saved money for hearing people needs.

I feel like FCC are taking more away from Deaf communities and give it to the hearings.

:gpost:

Very well said!

You know what I am talking about, great to hear somebody knows what Im been talking about.

But fraud in the past, including IP relay accounts where they can't prove if they are legit or not. It is harder to scam using VRS because you have to know sign language to use it, not many can. Those incidents in the past had pushed FCC to make huge changes to prevent future mistakes and dump the blame on somebody else.

BTW, it is not too late to attempt rock the boat. Unless we all decided to sleep another 60 days then we are doomed. We all have 90 days to file objection of that June 10, 2013 ruling, so right now we have 60 days to get our ass chanting and jumping like crazy but in unison we can stop that from happening.

I can't do all the voice, the ship is too great for me to rock em. The more going in unison, we can rock the ship and FCC as captain won't like this.

I just learn that Purple just lay off outreach specialists. That is just another change, and more is coming soon. It will come slowly.

I am starting to see the demand for functionality equilvent concept is more damaging effects for Deafies. I just wish the concept of functionality adaptive instead. I think that in political environment, if we used Functionality adaptive instead of functionality equilvent, FCC could have made better decision and benefits for every level of hearing loss relay users.

Soon or later, we will see all relay providers that would just be the same no matter what.
