School for the Deaf denies deaf child with Down Syndrome placement

You're not going to "waste time" because you know I never made that statement. In fact, you probably did look and when you didn't find it the above was the best you could come up with. Just because you say it's so, doesn't make it so.
 
A I have been asking around in the Deaf community about if they know of a school that has denied placemnt for a child with down's syndrome because I really would like to know what school did that so I can help out as I work in a program for deaf children with additional needs. Like if the school doesn't have th resources, I can contact their curriculm specialist and give them a list of resources so this child's are adequately met.

Yea because if the deaf school doesn't have the resources, it can make things difficult for the student ans staff trying to meet her needs. I just hope they do have the resources..I know many Deaf schools don't have the resources for deaf children with assitional needs due to either budget cuts, not finding the staff who are properly trained, or not having other students with special needs. However, there are many others who do and it is us who should reach out and help these schools or programs.

I did say that a law firm was involved if we didn't get a successful resolution through the complaint process. If it had gone to DP, we would have needed attorneys to have navigated the system. It didn't go to Due process.

Yes PFH- I said attorneys were involved if it had to go to Due Process. I never said placement was a result of the attorneys being involved which is what I was addressing with Jillio. This student got placement because of the Compliance Complaint.

If I had that little green icon you included, I'd post it here.
 
And yes, the attorneys are on stand by if needed.

Shel- they do have a "Special Day Class" so they do have the resources. Although, it certainly wouldn't hurt for them to have additional ideas and resources. I will connect with the attorney and see what he says about providing the name of the school.

The only documentation I have from the DOE is the report from the compliance complaint which clearly states that it's confidential. If I get the go ahead, I'll provide the name. I'm sure you can understand my hesitancy in making that public, before I have confirmation that it's okay to do so.

It was never my intent to "bash deaf schools"- more that I wanted to draw attention to this case which isn't that uncommon. This is another piece of the educational system that needs to be rectified.

Just because a child has a secondary disability doesn't cancel out the way they receive information.

Hopefully we will be able to get the situation resolved without going to Due Process; but if we can't, I feel good about the fact that the family has the expert support of one of the best firms available.
Compliance complaints typically take about 60 days to come to a resolution so we just have to be patient. If it does end up going to DP, I'll post the information because at that point it will be a matter of public record. I just hope and pray we can come to a positive resolution before that happens.

His early education is not a secret on AD. He has said it many times. Report all you want. More scare tactics for you to use when someone disagrees with you. ;)

My initial point was that he was hellbent on distorting CSign's words...calling her a liar and using an obscene smiley, even.
