Hello there, just to let you know that I work with IT for 40 years and now retired. Just like what everyone said above and there's more to it. Usually if you purchase internet security package like Norton or McAffee or whatever that come with VPN option. That package will help you to protect the internet world. Then you need to be aware of what you are entering the internet site. Double check the http you entered. For example if you enter www.alldeaf.com and the page opened. Everything look fine right? but if you look very closely on the http box and look how it spelled, www.allldeaf.com, your alarm should go off...that mean you site have been redirected to hacker's site and hoping to collect your login and password. It good idea to check the link carefully before you start using the site. Usually the security package will help you protect that but not 100 percent. Hacker are getting smarter each day. Even with your security package, it would be good idea to add an additional layer, let say your mom or dad asking you to take picture of your driver license and send it to him/her using let say e-mail or text message. That's not a good idea. There's a better way to send securely is using WhatsApp. WhatsApp is encrypted communication and it's very secure. That would be a good example of adding additional layer of security. So your answer is to research, learn and how to protect yourself.

And do not put out too many details about your personal life out there. I learned that lesson the hard way years ago.

Don't talk too much. Think first. Talk later. People still do it to this day. A lady from craigslist gave me her home address and expected me to go there to buy her food processor. WTH. A major mistake. I did go there and bought it at her mansion. The funny thing is there is a sign, no soliciting next to her door AND a sign in the front yard.
