A young family member of mine has trouble reading the lips of Animated characters in feature films. Do others find this to be true?

The animation isn't designed to make clear to read the lips so you need CC, subtitles or sounds (CI or HA) to get info about what animated characters saying.

How young is this family member?
My hearing kids don't understand everything they hear even on shows...

Either way, why not signed children's programs with or without captions.

I'm trying to have mine watch these as well...

I echo the above... there is no way in the world animated characters can be lipread well- Even the ones from Pixar (Toy Story, Incredibles etc).

Lipreading humans at its best is something like 30% so imagine with animated....

This reminded me of a HOH friend I met at Gallaudet. She and her family lived in denial of her deafness. She didn't have any assistive devices growing up, no CC, etc. She said her mother would sit her in front of the television and turn on The Muppet Show. She said to me "Have you ever tried to lip-read a puppet?" We had a good laugh at the absurdity of it.
