New 'Miss Deaf Utah' Says Her Abilities Far Outweigh Her Disabilities | KCSG-TV St. George, UT | Regional News

Natisha Luke has the ability to do a lot of things.

She is a certified phlebotomist.

She's also holding down a regular job as a cashier for Home Depot.
Most recently, Luke has shown her ability to compete against her peers, and win.

She was one of seven girls competing for the title of, 'Miss Deaf Utah.'
Natisha was born hearing.

When she was very young, she developed an ear infection and never recovered.

It was her aunt who told her to enter this competition and her entire family who gave her the courage to see it through.

Natisha says her new crown will now enable her to share her encouraging message with younger, hearing impaired girls.

"Don't be negative about your deafness. Just be happy about it. You're blessed with it. It's what makes you special," said Luke.

Though Luke admits her deafness limits her in some areas,
whether or not you view it as a disability, well, that's all in the eyes of the beholder.
