My son is getting a CI

So is "deaf are isolating themselves"

Actually, I believe that there are lots of people here who say that they prefer to only associate with hearing people when they must, and that they would prefer to spend all their free time in the Deaf community.

not here. make your own thread and leave elliott's dad's thread alone. Elliotts dad is very excited about his time with his kid's .

some of them are married to hearing people and even have hearing children. It's a lie.

Actually, isn't the statistic that 90% of Deaf people marry other Deaf people?

Also, I think it depends on your definition of "isolate". Are natives who choose to live on reservations isolating themselves? What about the Chinese who live in a Chinatown and choose to use Chinese as their primary language and send their children to Chinese schools?

But NONE of this has to do with a family deciding to get their child a CI. Good luck to Elliot!!!!!!!!

90%, lol. Not even close.

:bsflag: Not true at all. CI users can do anything except deep sea scuba diving and play with a Van De Graaf machine. Why are you making up lies? Are you so uncomfortable with yourself that you have to make things up to scare people just so you feel better? Also, unless you have been living under a rock, you should know that CIs are in the EAR not the brain.

CI users can't use a MRI machine as well..

In progress of making an offensive cartoon of that too.

"90% Rate

There was a question from where the 90% Deaf-Deaf Marriage rate came
from. The following statistics are from "The Deaf Population of the
United States," by Jerome Schein and Marcus Delk, published in 1974 by
the NAD.

I don't know from the limited information how the sample of over a
thousand deaf people were drawn from, but the satistics are as
follows:

Married Males deafened under the age of 3:
82% had deaf spouses 7% had hard of hearing spouses

Married Males deafened at the age of 3-18:
77% had deaf spouses 6% had hard of hearing spouses

Married Females deafened under the age of 3:
86% had deaf spouses 6% had hard of hearing spouses

Married Females deafened at the age of 3-18:
65% had deaf spouses 9% had hard of hearing spouses

Schein also noted that the divorce rates were far higher for marriages
in which one spouse is hearing than for those in which both are deaf."

Lets see...

Proved nothing... Plus there are several other errors in the numbers there. Find something else for me please.

The magnet, not the CI. But Med-el is approved without any change.

I know what you're talking about... It still has to be removed nonetheless.

What is there to protect the person if they got into a car accident and was ordered to go thru a mri without knowing it?

Remember, when your son gets a CI, he will never be able to play sports. It's too dangerous with a CI attached to the brain.

That post is a flat out lie and you should be ashamed of yourself for posting such garbage.

I am also requesting the moderators to remove it immediately.

Elliott,

In just college alone, here are some of the sports I personally know ci kids are playing:

Field hockey
baseball
football
hockey
soccer
lacrosse
skiing

Posts like the one from this yizwhatever character are exactly the reason why I advise all parents considering the ci for their child to join the ci circle.
