Considering the amount of stress those engines go through im suprised they dont blow more often

This....even though they completely tear down the motors after every run, they still make ~8,000hp, combining high compression with very volatile race fuel, if anything is even remotely out of spec, something is going to give and and cause a chain reaction of events that leads to this.
