On July 30, 1984 came into this world,
A beautiful, healthy baby girl.

I kept you each night, five nights a week,
While Mom & Dad worked to make ends meet.

But one day when you were very ill,
Your world of hearing stood very still.

To us you are special, it's so hard to explain,
So difficult to expect but we can't complain.

It's made us realize the things we have found,
The things we take for granted in our world of sound.

Seeing a dog but never hearing his bark,
We take away your security if we leave you in the dark.

Seeing a bird but never hearing its peep,
Vibrations on the floor can wake you from sleep.

Feeling the breeze but never hearing the wind blow,
Watching the river but never hear it flow.

Seeing the lightning but never hear thunder boom,
Never hearing someone walking into the room.

Seeing Mom & Dad but you have no choice,
You may never hear the sound of their voice.

Never hear the snow crunch or rain fall from the sky,
Or the rustling of leaves or a small baby's cry.

Never hearing the laughter on a smiling face,
Or the hustle and bustle of lifes fast pace.

Others shy away, they don't understand,
They think they will catch it if they touch your hand.

You've been chosen to be spcial by our Heavenly Father,
To draw us al closer to one another.

I know we've been chosen to test how we cope,
And my Darling we've passed with our Love, Faith and Hope.

There may come a day when they find a cure,
But for now, we, your loved ones must for sure.

Learn to live and love in your special world,
With our beautiful, loving, growing girl.

You are my special darling,
I love you very much,
Love Grandma Kaye
(My dad's mom)

She wrote that in around 1988, not sure. I am shocked to found it in the box that I have things which is pretty old. She have many grandchildren but Im the one who she only wrote the poem about. I miss her so dearly, shes dead in around 2004 or 2005 to lungs cancer, a few organs failure. I remember her last words to me, "I'm glad to know my special darling is very successful with many things, just continue being successful and I will be there by your side and loving you forever."

Your grandma's poem is beautiful and I put a bold on that it is God's will for us to cope with our deafness. That is exactly what I wrote in another thread that God want hearing people and individuals to accept deafness and it is not a bad omen. No way. :ty: for the beautiful poem. I love it. :cool2:
