i am a hearing individual. nonetheless..i will post and see what happens. i really just want honest advice from individuals in the deaf community regarding cultural sensitivity and what forms of prejudice you encounter as deaf or hard of hearing. also, i am attempting to learn ASL but have not had a chance to practice much. i understand that using it is the best way to learn. how can i find ASL users in my area?

Im glad to see an hearing individual who wants to work with the deaf community, and you will recieve many infomation about prejudice here on Alldeaf.com, and you have found the right place to get infomation for learning ASL. However my answer to your question is rather vauge, i would suggest for you to get an ASL signing book from any library that will teach you a large varaity.

Right on!

Hi Snyder,
Thats neat that you want to work with the deaf and the hard of hearing.
I've known ASL for 30 yrs,and I use it everyday.
The other person is right about going to the library and ask them if they have any sign lanaguae books in ASL.
