I'm on a quest to get married.

Oracle,

Are you serious? Postfromhell posted a link about your prada bags, and it leads me to think that your daddy is loaded. Your son goes to the private school. Maybe you should pull your son out of the private school, so you can send him to the public school. You don't have to pay for your son's tuition anymore. Perhaps you should also sell your pricey bags through ebay or craigslist??

I have been, but I don't have any Prada. Do you want to buy my shoes? I give you AD special, ok?

My son has a scholarship...as for my dad, it would be NICE if he wanted to give me loads of cash cause I batted my eyelashes, but he doesn't do that. I have to pay for my own stuff around here (unless it's my birthday or Hanukkah or something).

*shrugs*

The pains of being a grownup.

I don't know what my dad's money has to do with me not having any. How is that my fault? There are people on AD who PURPOSELY try to scam the government for welfare cash...

I wouldn't put it past her.

http://www.alldeaf.com/1782422-post5.html

Taking advantage of her father's girlfriend and trying to swap the items in for cash.

It's sad though.

Taking advantage? I think my DAD takes advantage of women.

How about you taking advantage of the government? Maybe if I were deaf enough I could be like you and get $$$ and travel to Europe on the taxpayer's dollar...

Oracle, theres got to be some sort of county insurance for low income somewhere availble. I'm willing to help you search for one in any way I can. But please think carefully about marriage. Not only is it a hassle and cost money, but the other person's credit can ruin yours in so many different ways. Marry because you want to not because you need to.

I'm here for you, I wont let you give up finding an alternative. Your not alone girl :)

Thank you. XO. <3

Since your family seems rich and generous, maybe you could ask them to fund private health insurance for you.

I don't qualify. I have epilepsy. I can't get private health insurance and out of pocket per visit is a little over $1,000.

:/

...Never been to Europe....and surely would not "go on the taxpayer's dollar"....I paid my own taxes for over 50 years (working at a young age)...and if I ever knew someone was scamming the government to travel to Europe....you'd better believe I'd report it...no matter who it was, as long as I had the bona-fide PROOF.

Yeah, it's a pain to get health insurance, nevermind adequate health insurance. I had applied for private insurance (I was a sub teacher, so no benefits) and I was denied on the basis that I was fat and deaf. One company suggested HIPPA insurance, insurance that was designed for high risk groups. Apparently being deaf was a high risk, nevermind the fact that insurance typically doesn't cover a hearing test or pay for hearing aids. These plans went for at least $350 a month with high out of pockets, high copays, high deductibles, waiting period until coverage for a condition kicks in, etc etc.

I know a lot of people are grossed by the fact that some people do get married purely for the benefits, but it does happen. You could try this with a friend whom you can trust, and sex or any form of intimacy is absolutely not required. You both can share an apartment for saving on bills, and you are not required to share a bank account, either.

However, I don't think your kid would be able to be added to the insurance because he is technically not the guy's kid (or adopted).

I have read about American retirees or disabled people living in another country (i.e. Phillipines) because they can take advantage of currency exchange rates there. A check of $900 may seem paltry in the US, but it is worth a lot more in the other countries and can fetch the person a nice home, personal services, medical care, etc.

So, I don't think we really can do anything about them, only report them for doing something they claimed to be unable to do (i.e. having a bad back that should have prevented them from lifting ten, twenty pounds).

I didn't know you do offer AD special. Why, thank you. I am sure your shoe size is smaller than mine. I have long and narrow feet.

If your son has a scholarship, how come you still pay for your son's tuition? Is it not a full paid scholarship, isn't it?

Did you ask to stay with your dad temporarily until you find a job again?

Have your friends or relatives referral you for a job. I think it does help.

I have no comment on people on AD who try to scam the government, because I don't know them and their circumstances. If they do it literally, then I am disappointed. I don't know you, either. Since your title of the thread caught my attention, because I thought you were joking around.

Thank you. I'm not doing it to scam a person. I mean, people get married for green cards, money, religion, whatever. Why not? This is a country that doesn't have health care! WTF! It shouldn't HAVE to be this way.

*Sigh*

I'm likely to be subbing this year. :( If so, I won't be able to pay the out of pocket costs. For my son, though, it's pretty basic...probably ends up being $500/yr max, figuring vaccinations, the occasional bronchitis, meh. I think I paid $300 for him getting the flu and having asthma issues last fall...that was it.

I didn't know you do offer AD special. Why, thank you. I am sure your shoe size is smaller than mine. I have long and narrow feet.

For Ebay, it's $555. For you, I charge $549.99! :D

It's a 14k/yr school.

He lives far away. You also have to consider that I'm an adult, my son is rooted in his school and friends, and my career (hopefully!) is here.

I MAY have to move and it will really be a huge setback...I don't even want to think about it. :(

10 per cent unemployment here. I try, though.

:(

yes we do. it's called

1. Private Health Insurance
2. Medicaid
3. Medicare
4. Obamacare
5. UAW oops I mean....

you don't like it? feel free to move to any socialist country. oh wait - you're already in one

epilepsy? Wow, that's very serious, no insurance would accept it. That's leave only to the medicare that willing cover some

I have experience with roommate who have epilepsy and I find it very frighten that she cannot handle alone. Sometime, she decide to go alone which is too risk like she could fell on hard floor outside in public.

Better marry to guy who is in military, from what I hear she recently marry to that guy from air force. It's great benefit.

yes they can. All cuz of Obamacare! New laws forbid insurance company from denying one cuz of pre-existing condition.

That's correct. And even without Obamacare, it wasn't an automatic denial of coverage before. Maybe with some insurance companies, but not all.

It seem there is one ADer who is willing to take on the challenge. Good for you, Aunthetic!

Yep...healthcare is a mess here in America.
