I thought I would let all my AD Friends Know

I found out on Wednesday that My dad has Pancreatic Cancer and that it is so far gone that they can't do surgery to remove it. They said that usually the longest someone lives with that is one year. Please keep my family and me in your thoughts and prayers we will really be needing it.

oh wow.... :(

sorry to hear, my friend

Oh, what a bummer to have Pancreatic Cancer. It is too bad that your dad did not have an early diagnostic enough to go through surgery and chemo. Now it is too late. I am praying for you and family to get through tough time trying to comfort and make him comfortable as best you all can. My thoughts are with you and your family. Having cancer is like hell and no one want to die. That is what make us feel sad and angry at the same time. So have peace with him. :(

I am sorry to hear about your dad, my prayers and thoughts to you, your dad and family.

Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear but what about pancreas transplant?

Celticty, I am sorry to hear that your dad has cancer and wont live longer... I do know how ya feel about this as I have mentoined in AD in a topic about my mom and brain cancer and etc... it is gonna be very painful for ya in the final months of your dad's life and all ya can do is be supportive and help your dad out more..trust me, I know how draining it is to have to deal with not only mom but my dad at the time (he passed away before mom passed away) so it will be one long year or so.. .however who knows how long your dad will live so best to make everything all good for him to enjoy the peace he will have to sought at the moment.... if anything needed, do ask me and I will try to answer your questions about anything or so.. will keep ya in my thoughts for sure...

Prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Mod note:

Thread is sticky for the time being for the prayers.

Im sorry Celticty :( What a misfortune. I have never been through it myself, but been in room with patients when physician prognoses bleak terminal outcome. My prayers and sympathies go out to you and your family members. Hang in there bud

:( sorry to hear that... this is one of very reasons why my son don't wear those dispose diapers. let your father know you love him and spend time with him as much as you can. ask for a lot of funny childhood stories or something - that is if he can tolerate. ((hug))

Celticity, I am very sorry to hear about your father. I went thru this situation with my mother before. The pancreatic cancer killed her 13 years ago and it was so hard on my family. It gave us a huge learning experience about this nasty disease. If you want to talk about it, we can do it in PM.

What a nasty bastard the pancreatic cancer is!

Sorry you have to go though this. I've also lost people I love to one cancer or another, and other things.

I would not wish it on you, but I do wish you the strength to get through it.

I've had a friend that had pancreatic cancer and her prognosis at the time of diagnosis was 6 months, but she died 3 months after her initial diagnosis, her death was so swift and quick. She died in 1998. Pancreatic cancer is pretty much a death sentence. I'm sorry to hear about your dad's pancreatic cancer and I will keep him in my thoughts.

he is dealing with it well. he still has his sense of humor. He is going to go see a Herbologist which claims he has something that helps fight cancer. I honestly wonder why this guy isn't all over the news for the cure for cancer? Right up there with people claiming that this pill helps you loose fat.

You mean like Chinese herbs specialist which he or she has hundreds of different herbs or part of drug herbs that can cure any disease. Some might work and some don't work. In our native (North American Indians) culture, we have medicine person or people who knows about medicines like herbs that is found in the woods (bush) to heal people with. We don't have any medicine people anymore today. Only a few of them can help, very few. We have to rely on Doctors. :( But I know some of native people still try to find medicine people to help them cure their illness or disease. So it is worth a try. :hmm:
