Hi, my name is Julia, age 42. I am an artist and a photographer. I was born deaf in the hearing community. My first language is ASL but ASL wasn't useful because I am the only one who is deaf in my family. I wear a hearing aid and have poor communication skills. My english grammar is not great. It was hard for me trying to fit in and felt sorry for myself, but I didn't realize until someone had said something that spoke to me and that turned my life around. There is nothing wrong with me at all! Just poor communication. Now I am learning ASL again and learning a lot more about the deaf community.
