I'm Meg, and I'm in an interesting position... I've just learned I'll more than likely be completely deaf within five years due to myriad reasons. This doesn't bother me terribly, as I've dealt with hearing issues for a long time, just not to the extent I'm looking at down the line. I'm not one to sit back and wait for life to happen, so I need to get cracking on ASL. I have a small understanding now, but I learn most easily with interactive communication.
