I don't want to go through an organization because they can take years and the ones by me cost $500, which they say they will refund back. But I know a guy that trains hearing dog, so I am going to play the puppy lotto and hope it all works out

ADA should cover that. I think you would be allowed a service dog just like a blind person should be allowed a seeing-eye dog.

That's because apartments don't allow pets but the do allow items. And since a SD and even a companion pet are items just like hearing aids are. But companion pets can't go out to SD only places. I have a companion pet cat, who I call my lamp, for my depression and stress.

You can have a hearing dog and your landlord can't do anything about it unless he want a lawsuit against him/her.
