Do Hands Have a Tone Of Voice?

When hearing couples have been together for a long time
and a disagreement occurs, one will often say to the
other, "Don't you dare speak to me in THAT tone of voice".
My hubby and I call this the ole tone of voice argument.
So my question is if a deaf couple were doing the same
thing and one began to sign..."Don't you Dare Sign to
me with that___________!" Please complete the
phrase. As many people respond as possibel please.:ty:
 
Both of my hubbies are hearing so I never really used ASL with them. My first hubby doesnt know any signs and my 2nd one signs in SEE. When he gets mad at me, he tells me to stop this or that (whatever I was doing that makes him mad). I do the same thing.

I guess it is better if a deaf couple answers. I have dated deaf men but never got into a serious relationship with any of them.

hahah middle finger!:giggle: I think I need to rephrase my
question. What I am really asking is when you are sarcastic
or being melodramatic, or snide, etc, does it show in the
way your hands move? In hearing people a change in the
sound will indicate the emotion, but it can be very subtle.
Now I know facial expresion can indicate this but is there
a subtle style with the hands that would indicate how the
person is feeling when the signs are made?

Yes it does with the facial expresion and hand movement together show how someone is feeling.
 
"Don't look at me in that tone of voice!" - heard that a lot at school from a couple teachers at school.
 
My older sister was born deaf. Her unmistakable tone is in her face and the tension of her hands. You know when she shoots a "Fine!" at you that she means anything but fine.

One of her boyfriends long ago made such tentative and weak signs that we said he "spoke with a lisp," ha ha ha.

A friend says when I become agitated, I snap signs like a snapping one's voice.

I thought so. I imagine if a person is from several generations of Deaf
they would be able to read even more subtle "hand tones".

Yes. My mom always signs "polite" when I sign to her and angry. Or "slow" when I sign fast so she can't understand because I am mad.
