Deaf supergirl

The girl is adorable and she is learning ASL too .

 How do you know that? Doesn't say anywhere in the article and in the video it just says sign language. Looks like she is oral and is just starting but her Dad had to prompt her a little to say "thank you" in sign.

ROCKLIN, CALIFORNIA (WHDH) — A little girl in California is winning over a lot of hearts on the internet, all because of what she wanted to wear to her school picture day.

Kaylieann Steinbach’s sidekick, and inspiration for her wardrobe, is Superman.

The three-year-old’s fashion choice went viral after the picture was posted on Reddit.

But she has also become an inspiration to many people across the country because there is more to this little toddler than her love for superheros.

Kaylieann is 75 percent deaf in both ears so this picture is getting more than just laughs and smiles across the internet.

Supergirl’s parents say they are overwhelmed with the support from the deaf community calling her an inspiration.

Ahhh "inspiration"..... :io: no.

That's a sweet story but what makes her an "inspiration"? She is just a little girl who likes to dress up. Also 75% deaf? Someone needs to do a better job explaining hearing loss and audiograms to this family.

I guess the 'inspiration' comes from her doing so well as a deaf youngster in the big ole bad hearing world... so whatever she does is a-maze-ing.... *bleech*

Unfortunately throughout time ever since I was a tot, disabled people of all stripes and sizes have been "inspirational"... to the point where someone coined the phrase "inspiration porn". There is a TED talk about that very thing. And for whatever reason.. people still use percentages to quantify hearing loss.. no idea why it's still being used unless people manage to merge the two.. % with actual db loss (in which case the young girl is probably in the severe range...).

Wow she is needs to learn sign she can't rely on spoken speech lol oh boy ..

That's good it will take her far with understanding for sure .
I agree she will able use an interpreter in school and not miss what her teachers are saying . The CC don't seen to be working for videos very good lately and when they do work the words are not correct.

Don't trust about what WDYS saying because she doesn't cite about whichever girl learn ASL. In fact, the article and video doesn't mention about ASL.

This girl use spoken language with simple sign language only, not ASL.

Edit: Reba shared a link about ASL so scroll down to see her post.

I really don't care what Foxrac want to know !

Nevermind.

You need to learn about how to respect to members and it isn't okay to make rude statements, that's enough for you.

I highly doubt she is learning ASL. Most people on the forum don't think so either.

Also I don't think WDYS use ASL - she just depends on lip reading.

I remember about she whined that interpreters who are men have beard, so I told her - that's ASL interpreter, not lip reading service.
