Sorry to be off topic..but on tv this morning, i missed some of it but they were talking about having people with depression like bi polar start eating certain food, more of it in fact like lots of veggies, fruit, nuts, not too much meat or non at all and the studies noted that the group who ate these right food no longer have depression and is not on meds anymore and the other group who ate junk food and is on meds did no good, in fact got worse! So it does make difference what kind of food you eat! I know a lady who has severe bi polar depression never eats right..in fact, she hardly eats cuz she was worried about gaining weight (shes darn skinny!)..that could be why she is severely depressed. I wonder if she start eating more veggies, fruit and all, it might cure her? Pretty interesting though......any thoughts on this?

yeah Reba is right....Rachel..just date one time and see how it goes..if his disorder is too upsetting or to disruptive for you, then dont date him again, is all.
As for me, i have never been around people with this disorder, so it must not be pretty common or i would have seen or known people with it..Is it pretty common or uncommon?.....I will have to research on it as i dont know anything about it.

It seems to becoming more common because more people are being diagnosed with the disorders. Most of the people are being diagnosed while they are children in school. Some people believe the disorders are misdiagnosed and over-diagnosed, and too dependent on medications. But that is another topic. :)
Further research is an excellant idea.

I don't think it matters whether a person has ADD or ADHD. It's something people live with, and its something you work with. It really shouldnt influence your decision as to whether you should date them or not.

Megladon has ADD, and that's never been a problem for me. Short attention spans run in my family, so I didn't really think anything of it. That's why I didnt think that you should let it influence you. Apparetly Megladon told me before we started dating (I can't recall when so blah.) But when you're going out with someone, date or steady, you're going out with who they are - quirks and all. :)

Currently the NIMH's great AHDH study can only be accessed in a web archive here: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. You may want to correct the link accordingly.

What I recently liked as well is Gabriel Hershman's The hidden price of ADHD - MyLife.com

Extactly as same my eldest son and who is 13 yrs old .

He has troubling in his classroom and kept disracting rest of other students and implusive. *groan* I was hoping he'll behave at school this fall.

Rachel,
You may go ahead Date w/guy who has A.D.D. or A.D.H.D least you can give him a time and go ahead have fun together spend time and to get him know more personally. One day you could fall in love w/guy who has A.D.D.
*Can't be perfect straightenforward and to try become better person and no longer A.D.D..* Really impossible. As long you can manage w/guy. Go For it.. you willing challenge to learn about A.D.D./ A.D.H.D Wishes you have great luck and new seed as bright future! :thumb:

i think its bullshit, like
its the food/drug companies forking $$ to researchers and other 'drugs-for-fixes' to ease out the hassle

how come in the 50-70-80's we had hardly of this problems?
foord was made better
with less shit to 'make it last longer or taste better'...

people are relying on already made food, or lately exotic cooks in cooking contest is an interesting one, 'extremes' of normalised house hold (i dunno but part of my guess)...

my mate is ADHD and he got a bad case of it...

he eats incredible amount of food, and junk food that is, he is FAT. i mean F A T...and all he does it lie down on bed on his tummy gulgs coke or beer or vodka (to get drunk) hacks and play games on computer web programming, fixed computers, etc, etc just computers and more computers
its scary

i dunno
avoid the ones with ADHD

they tend to be quite manipulative, and selfish, but generous in a weird way...
so
you've been warned...

if was me, ive avoid it

I fell madly in love with someone with ADD. Even now, I still brighten up thinking of her.

I think if you truly love someone, it won't matter if they are purple or have a mushroom for a nose. But we aren't really talking about love, we're talking about going on a date. If you're interested enough to consider dating, why not see for yourself what it's like? If it develops into a relationship fine. If the relationship doesn't workout for you or the other person, that's fine too. If there's something about a person that makes you uncomfortable about going with them, then don't -- be safe.

*DISCLAIMER - Personal experiences may vary. Everyone is different, we're all people whether a label gets attached to us or not.

Having ADHD or ADD does not define you. It's mostly hereditary. No one is perfect. Everyone has their own problems. Love and accept yourself is very important. You are unique in your own way.

Some people with ADD are the most fun, amazing, wonderful people you'll meet.

Others will drive you up the wall.

It's all down to the individual, as was said by Reba and co NINE YEARS AGO when this thread was first started.

I know a lot of people with a lot of mental issues. I have a friend that has Schizophrenia ( Not paranoid or disorganized ) and others who are bipolar and all sorts of stuff. If they realize they have a problem and are treating it ( medicated ) I don't see any need to judge someone off any sort of mental disorder personally. A mental disorder is something someone can't help, just like being Deaf.

Agreed. Use good judgement. Dealing with someone at their worst can make or break a relationship when mental illiness rears its ugly side. Same for people with physical issues like obesity which is considered a disease. Cancer and so on. Everyone is unique with some sort of baggage. If one cant accept that person for who they are its not a good idea to start something.

There are certain mental issues I cannot tolerate as I work in the mental health field and just cant tolerate that type of behavior in my partner. It will drive me insane lol.
