I confess that I love the early morning hours when everybody is sleeping and I'm the only one who is up!...I also confess that our house again is getting too cramped!...And confess that I went shopping yesterday. Found a pair of slacks I liked and bought them on the spot....came home to find they were too big!...So, happily, I've gone down to a size 9-10 and have to take them back (ugg), and fight the crowds all over again.

If she can't, that ought to be done at the doctor's office. They can refer you to a podiatrist and Medicare will pay.

It isn't really safe for you to do that with her health problems.

Yes. Even my sister surffers from arthritis in her back. She's in a lot of pain and cannot bend over to trim her toe nails....so she goes to the nail salon to have it done. I dunno if she knows that going to a podiatrist and Medicare will pay for it, tho'...but I'm gonna email her about that. So thanks, Botti!

I have tried to get her to go to the salon where she gets her hair done. I have also asked her about seeing her podiatrist for it. Seems her Medicare will only pay for 3 visits a year. Not sure about that and I will check. I have put a call in to her primary care to see if he can work this out for me. Her toenails grow so fast it's crazy.

Very, very true.

I get pedicures at the salon quite often (every month in summer, every other month in winter). It's expensive, but I know they use proper sterilization and use fresh files and everything. I "can* take care of my feet, but it's such a luxury to have the whole works, with a foot soak, leg massage, and everything else.

Salons, however, don't HAVE to take everybody, and if someone has a lot of medical issues, like diabetes (does your MIL have that?) or fungus or something, they can refuse. They are not medically qualified to cope with that sort of thing.

I didn't know Medicare would pay for a visit to podiatrists. Maybe when I'm 65 I'll change my habits!

The hair salon she goes to weekly also does nails and they voluntarily get inspected once a month and it is never a planned inspection. They always pass with flying colors.

MIL did go to a podiatrist a couple of months ago and she was shocked at her co-pay. It was $45 and she had to see him for 3 weeks in a row due to an ingrown toenail and *gasp* fungus. I wear gloves when doing them, and her podiatrist instructed me on the trimming since he knows how she is. He has been seeing her for the last 20 years off and on. He has said that her Humana Gold will only cover 4 visits a year.

My mother's I do not do due to her medical conditions. Her primary care doctor takes care of them for her. He does not want me to take any chances at all. I keep boxes of gloves in the house at all times because of her and we also have the red bags for all of her bandages if any and they go to her doctor for disposal. Some days, I feel like I am a medical assistant with all I have to do around here. Both Mom's doctor and MIL's doctor agree with that feeling.

stop stop stop talking about toenails! so icky! ewwww now i confess that toenails talks really turns me off

I confess, while I do really want and need this new house, I do not want to have to deal with all the paperwork and permits. It is so confusing.

I confess the main reason I'm planning to buy the house I'm living in now is because I don't want to have to deal with looking for another place and the trouble of moving. Since I've been living here for 4 years now, I pretty much know what I'm getting (though I will have it inspected when the time comes).

New confession again today. I have a lot of fun playing a game with my son, mother and MIL just hitting a balloon all over the living room of the house. We are working on MIL's range of motion for the should that she broke that never healed properly and also my mother's hand/eye coordination. My mother's primary care emailed me with a lot of things to try and so far, they seem to be working. Also, an old friend of her's is an activity coordinator for a nursing home and works with Alzheimer and dementia patients. She sent me a list of things to do as well. Now we will all get up and moving.

That is one of my reason for moving out and bought this property. You gotta to worry about the property taxes although.
