My brother will have a CI surgery in 19 of march. This is the third time they change our date.
We are always wondering how CI sounds.I have read alot on the forum here from other CI owners and i can only imagine.I asked our doctors if they can provide us with a sound sample for the CI and they said they don't have any.

I found these two:

Maybe someone knows where to find more files or a sound/video so we can get a better idea how the sound like ?

Just info - don't take these samples seriously. In the end it's about recipient's brain - at the beginning the sound can be even more weird than in these samples and when the person will eventually get used to the sound provided by CI, it usually sounds normal to him. The brain just adapts, because the CI sound becomes the only way to hear.

Everything I've read from people who have CI's, is that they sound better than any hearing aid once properly tuned/mapped, and sound nothing like that. Even music is getting much better with the new CI's.

I'm still pretty floored at how much detail I'm hearing, and being able to hear the triangle playing above everything else.

When the brain adapts, it doesn't just tolerate those "weird" sounds. The quality of the sound shifts from something not quite normal sounding, whatever that is for each person, to something that is normal sounding- or highly close to what people with normal hearing hear. The brain in itself is an amazing organ.
