Allows member of Al Qaeda to run for president? :eek3:

I would wonders about Reba, she will going spinning up and yell about our country is going screw up.

Yes, very true. IF that person is a member of Al Qaeda, that person is born in the US, age 35 and lives in US more than 14 years. Yes, that makes that person of Al Qaede qualified to run for president. Yes!! Yes!!

BUT.... that person has to convince the people to vote that person. That person has to face three Presidential debates. It's up to the US citiziens to decide who wants to vote.

Surely, anyone can be!

I know it's not going to happen. Thank goodness!!

My ex-hubby and his siblings were born in Mexico. One of his sisters just became a lawyer and now she is interested in maybe running for a political seat. If for some reason in the future, she wanted to run for president, she cant because she was born and lived in Mexico for 2 years before moving to the US. Would that be considered fair?

She can try political seats in local city, county, some states, and house representatives. Yea..

However, US President, no. She has to born in the US to qualify.

US Constitution stays! People born in the US, at least age 35, lives in US more than 14 years... can qualify for US President, period. Keep it way as always. If parents moved from other countries, and the baby was born in the US in despite of their parents' status. That child is born in US, grows until the age of 35 and lives in the US for 14 years, therefore, qualified to run for the US President.

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States. Qualifications for the Office of President of the United States

If things change in the future, US Constitution stays! That's what our founding fathers wanted for us before we broke up with British.

Native Americans, meaning??? As long as they are born in the US, they are qualified to run for US President. Of course, they are allowed.

That is the law I want to see remained the same!

Wouldn't US citizens who are active within the Al Qaeda group be subject to charges of treason?

Hmmm...

Wouldn't US citizens who are active within the Al Qaeda group be subject to charges of treason?

It's possible. Nobody denys one's choice. It's the freedom, whoever wants to be one. That's up to them whatever they choose.

As long as one doesn't violate, harm, kill, whatever hasn't disturbed the citizen, then... that person is alright.

The law is fair. Keep it the way it is.

I am curious, if I was born on USA base in Japan then I am USA citizen and Japan citizen?

If your parents were American citizens, then you would be an American.

It's up to the laws of each host country as to whether or not you could have dual citizenship. Most other countries aren't as liberal about citizenship as the USA is. Some countries accept it, some don't.

My sweetie was born at Tachikawa Air Force base in Tachikawa, Japan. Both parents are American citizens and he is classified as an American due to the laws of our country that says--any person born on American soil, born to American parents overseas are Americans.

Now for the dual citizenship with Japan--not likely due to the constitution of Japan as they prefer 100% Japanese ancestry for citizenship purposes.

The only problem that he has from time to time is when he is applying for a job and they question his citizenship.

I do agree with Reba--keep it the way it is.

The symbol of British/or England is " lion ". The United States of America's symbol is " eagle ". The question I would like to ask you: What will happen to our country's symbol IF, Obama is elected ? I know Obama is very socialist person and the symbol of USA can't be presented as an " eagle ", because our nation will change into a " communist " .... that's IF, Obama wins that election. There'll be many removes/or omits of our country's important history for all generations to remember. Like for example: Schools will teach Middle East religion such as Buddha or others as their idols. I don't want any one of you to think that I judge them or anythin' like this. I am just sharin' my thoughts what my view says. Same thing, there's no more of Allegiation to the flag we used to pledge in years ago.

So, do you think the " eagle's wings " will be cut off ( broke off ) from the lion's back in the near future ? Will the America become on its own without any other country's help ?

So much changes nowadays.

If someone born in USA then I would vote! If someone isnt born in USA then I am nervous to vote :D

Good point...:hmm:

Hi Shell, hope all is well with you and yours.

I think Bot has a point about second generation children. This is a very good question. I need to think about it for a while to develop an opinion. :)

Oh my my my my!!! This is very good question.

It's not going to happen at all. We have so many STRONG Patriotic citizens in the United States can make sure that it will not happen for generations. I promise you. Everything stays, for sure, It's guaranteed! Republicans and some Patriotic Democrats will fight harder to protect the US History and everything. If Obama "DID," The Congress will automatically petition and vote to remove Obama from the presidency seat. No question!! That's why we love the US Constitution. Congress have the power to remove the president if president goes crazy. That's why we love Supreme Court deciding what is constitutional or unconsitutional. I love Executive Branch to lead in the direction to the agreement to the Americans where all of us wanted.

Obama is not a socialist (that's the rumor, Not a Fact). Please review the facts/rumors at http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/obama.asp

He will not change the US history. He will not change the US symbols, including eagle. Everything stays same, (Nothing "what-ifs", everything stays same!) He will NOT change the United States to be Socialist or Communist party. (Never). Always Democratic, Republican, Independent, Green, Liberationist. (That's it.) We need NOT to worry because IT is very very hard to change everything. Congress and Patriotic citizens will not let Obama changing or Obama can face the impeachment.

Buddha and Middle East Religions are already here in the US and Obama will not push. It's up to the parents decision what they want for their children. Obama will not make both our national religion because We are the number one Christianity and Catholicism. If it happens, Christians and Catholics will be at large fighting to keep everything that way, not changed. Believe me on this. They have POWER to make sure all stays same and have respects for others. People are rumoring that Obama "could" be an ANTI-CHRIST. Believe me, we have PLENTY of Pastors, priests, religion leaders, evangelists telling those people because we DO have powerful Christians and Catholics. I bet that they will go crazy and start petitioning to remove Obama. We will be safe in time before it happens. (my what-ifs) Yes, it's true, Christians will do that. I believe that.

If Obama did, then, people take the fight to Supreme Court. They decide what is constitutional or not. Congress will start bidding new bills to pass the amendments, then it goes to states. Once it passed, this would be our new amendment to protect religions and protect ourselves against tyranny. (Well, we already have one in the US Constitution to protect ourselves against Tyranny in the US.)

Is that so great to have US Constitution protecting us? I love US Constitution. I can trust Presidents, Congressmen(women) and Judges. Everything is always (most times) checking each other and balancing every power. US citizens DO have the power to impeach the elected people in Congress. If they don't like what they do, everybody start petitioning to remove their elected people and replace new elected people. US Citizens have strong sense of patriotism and strong sense of US History/generations, they protect their country with pride and almighty patriotic being.

If anyone want to change the history, images, rules, etc. Oh boy, it will take 7-15 years to change because of SO MUCH fights and arguments, lot of votes to pass or fail the bills in Congress, States will fight, too. Citizens fight. It will take forever to get everybody to agree on. Right now United States' Population: 301,139,947 (as of July 2007) Can you convince 300,000,000 (It's 300 millions) people to agree on one thing? No? They have power to control their elected people. Yes, it will be a lot of fightings to get everybody to agree. Is it wonderful? That's why nothing will change, you have to convince elected people to vote in Congress. Congress has to approve all bills. ONCE Obama becomes president, everything will be alright.

It's good good good question, Maria. Everybody misunderstood with what-ifs and what-ifs. Personally, it will not happen, EVER!!! Thanks to the US Constitution. Thanks to the almighty US Patriotically citizens. Is this great? Yes, its way awesome! I hope that you agree. (I am really cool with your thoughts. Nothing to worry, Maria.)

NOW ME STOP TYPE!

I wish the American symbol of choice was the turkey . . . a bird unique to the area. NO! We had to go with the most typical of Western Civilization symbol: an eagle. *sigh*

Aww I am doing goood. How are u doing? We can email each other to catch up. Great to see u back!

Let it stay. Someone else told me that "too much freedom is chaos."

In Mexico, the law was amended before Vicente Fox was elected, because his mother was born in Spain. According to old Mexican law, a candidate must be born in Mexico. Plus a candidate's both parents who must be born in Mexico.

Rudy Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, Al Franken and all sorts of nutjobs out there. Why do anyone take these pundits seriously? It's mind-boggling and obvious that they aren't wired right in their heads.
