Bagels!

I love bagel sandwiched with smoked salmon and cream cheese ;)

Bagels, I like them but so full of refined carbohydrates. I rarely eat them. But I love lox and bagels. No cream cheese.

I love toasted bagels with melted cheese. I over-fill the tops with cheddar or mozzarella cheese and toast them.

I like bagels with cream cheese, but I don't eat them. a) there are a mad amount of carbs in a bagel, I heard there's just as much dough in a bagel as an entire loaf of bread, it just doesn't have yeast in it to make it rise b) I'm lactose intolerant, I friggen love cream cheese but even lactase pills can barely handle all that creamy goodness.


But this is reminding of one of the funniest facebook status I've ever seen, it went something like this.....

"went to DUnkin Donuts and ordered and onion bagel with veggie cream cheese. They gave me a cinnamon raisin bagel with veggie cream cheese on it. who eats that?!"

Oh man I died laughing that must have been one disgusting bite of bagel hahahaha
 
Oh man do I love bagels! I love them almost as much (but not as much) as tea! I think that bagels and tea are the perfect bond of union and that they belong together (in my belly)! Just look at it! ....

My current favorite is the whole wheat and either raisin or oatmeal.

I also like the onion, but I haven't found them in whole wheat so I make my own.

I loves everything bagel and the French toast bagels are good. It's hard to find real good Kosher bagels anymore. I really loves Russian black rye bread and not the kind you get in the supermarket .

God Kosher, that reminds me, growing up we had this wonderful Jewish deli that was legendary in our area. What I'd give to have another Jewish business in the area making begals....actually though there is...but as you can guess, the lines are around the corner and it's impossible to get in.
 
Do you boil your bagels before baking them?

Actually, I don't make them from scratch, perhaps I should. I just take whole wheat ones and add Onion powder. I do the same with Tuscan whole wheat bread and it comes out pretty good. Add a little Smart Balance butter and you are good to go.

Wow, you're really ahead of the game health wise. I only just recently learned about Smart Balance. Is it true that it's made from Greek Yogurt?

The 50/50 butter sticks I believe are Olive Oil and natural butter. I buy the Healthy Heart popcorn as well. I admit I have yet to try the peanut butter as I usually get Teddy's All Natural(which would go well on a bagel).

For Greek yogurt, I buy Fage and have used it in a few things. I've yet to try to make Shrimp Masala with it, but, all in good time.
 
I really like salt bagels, but that's off my menu now with restricted sodium.
