Anyone here who are diabetic ?

My doctor tested me for PCOS and then told me I got diabetes, that was in the years of 2002, What if I have it for a long time and not even know it, why didn't the doctor tested me every year to be sure if I have it or not, I was onlys 36 years old when told I got it, I was stunned and shocked, telling myself why me and it's so impossible to have it when all those years I was growing up and bam I got the diabetes, it made me so angry tho'.

Forgot to adds this after my doctor told me what I had, he said I wasn't able to have children and after I left his office I cryed soo hard, it's soo impossible!

Diabetes is soo serious, found out if your sugar too high and it eats you up inside, that's pretty scary. My feets feels pretty weird I hated that feeling in my feet, it sometimes feels like it's cold, tingling and little burning feeling, it's horrified me.

My doctor send me to a specialist to find out if PCOS caused my diabetes, but I missed that important appointment cuz I moved out of state, that's why and I'm gonna E-mail my doctor and see if it's possible to removed my cyst and maybe I can be diabetes free.

I even used to have low-blood sugar too, what a mess!
I am sorry you can not have children. That is so hard I can not image it if I never can have kids, it would have be hard on me too. My feet strange feelings at night which I knew my sugar was high. I do not know if we can be diabetes free but we can keep it under control and stay healthy. I wore sandle and went to see my primary dr two weeks ago and she chewed me out for not wearing proper shoes. I hate wearing shoes during summer.

I am not diabetic, but I have to watch out because it is very common in my family, and a medicine I take for my eyes tends to interfere with diabetes, and can mask hypoglycemia (which I already have had problems with, my blood sugar has run almost dangerously low a few times).

I have talked about this before and I will repeat in here... the gastric bypass (where the upper small intestine is bypassed) can cure diabetes (depending on how long you had diabetes and how bad it was) or lessen the effect of diabetes. The trouble is that they won't do the surgery if your BMI isn't over 35 with diabetes (that would mean I have to be over 200 pounds to get that surgery). I hope that one day they will change that ruling. My weight is in the normal range so they can't do the surgery on me. If I can get the surgery, I would go for the least invasive surgery like those surgeries via larposcopy.

PePe, I hope you will find an answer to your pcos problem.

It sounds like you may be pre diabetic. Be prepare for the worst eventually. If you go to bathroom frequently, your throat is chalky and dry that fast, or yeah..I hate to say this.. you may develop yeast infection as well.

dont know if it count, I found out this week that I am either pre diabetes type 1 or cholestrol, or both, cuz I have pretty high triglycerides from bloodwork done this week, I weigh only 140 lbs., and only need to lose few more pounds, my family dont have that problem, I guess I am one of the first one that I know of. I am waiting to get mailing about the infos for nutrition and exercises

That got me to change my diet to watch for food high in fats and cholestrol, and I am kinda not used to it, at least my mom is being supportive.

I would appreciate anyone with experiences and supports I can use, and any suggestion to make my life bit easier, while I wait for my doc's info in mail

Pre diabetes type 1? Not type 2? I have type 2 and I have high triglycerides and I am taking medicine to control trighlcerides. My grandmother was thin and she had diabetes type 2. Thank god you get to find this out now, I wish my dr told me 10 years ago to watch my trig and warn me of future diabetes but she said it was all in my mind. Yes I know it is hard to live and change diets.

I did not know I have diabetic cuz I never was thirst for water or go to bathroom frequently. It can go on for years till it hit you hard. Better to have blood sugar check once awhile to make sure it is under control.

I also have high triglycerides. I inherit that from my mother. She is taking meds for that but she is not diabetic. I inherit the diabetes from my father. I don't think he had high triglycerides. (He passed away years ago)

I hate to say that I'm on medicaid, I really hated medicaid, I can't wait to get my medicare, can't get it til next year...Sure I will be asking my doctor about generic don't works as strong as the name brand one...

I noticed that my sister's husband also a diabetic and he has nice health insurance and got a name brand medicine and it helps lower his sugar, that's strange how I take a generic brand and my sugar keeps getting higher.

I feels that state or health dept don't care for people who cannot afford a name brand medication and give them a cheap weak generic medicine that isn't helping, people keeps getting sicker and sicker.

You get me curious. Why you are not happy with medicaid? I thought you should be glad that medicaid cover medicine for you? Do you mean that they cover cheap medicines?

My diabetic friends can have children. They already have children thru special treatment. I think you should go to another doctor for second opinion.

Really? I never heard about this. I only know it helps to free diabetes when you have positive stress.

The issue isn't with generic / brand name medication: EVERY SINGLE person with diabetes, especially at varied levels of progression with type 2 diabetes, will react differently to the same medication. If the drug you take isn't working for you, you either need to look into a higher dose, adding or switching to another oral medication, or beginning insulin. Talking about how 'the man' is out to get you wont lower your A1C- being vocal and informed about your health will.

Last month ago, my doctor told me that i have diabetic which i was in for a shock because i am only 43 yrs old and also i had high triglycerides and high cholestrol by eating junk food, pasta, potatoes, sodas (not diet ones) and all that.... So, i changed my eating habits from junk food to healthy food... my blood sugar started with around 340 mg/dL YIKES!!!! but now i am under control by testing the blood sugar level 4 times a day and taking metformin 500 mg which covered by Medi-Cal/Medi-Care (Medicaid) and those pills seem are working to lower my blood sugar level! It goes up and down mostly from 89 to 179 mg/dL..... I am on Type 2! Yeah, i know it's hard to choose food that so expensive from the food store! Dang!!!!
