I tend to agree with this.

545 vs 300,000,000
EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party.. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems..

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

What you do with this article now that you have read it.......... Is up to you.

This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
Taxes drove me
to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'
And I still have to 'press 1' for English!?

Good post, seen it before, and worth repeating...."Tax Man"!

LOL, This really reminds me of a song called Achy Breaky heart (the way it is written)

BTW don't forget to fill out form 1099-SPE

That's the for to pay Tax for saying the word Tax

they charge a fee for processing the taxes and then tax the fee. It always amazed me that I get taxed on the money I get from my state tax refund. It is out of control and I think that the American people should send a clear message to congress and vote every single one of them out at the next election. Every last one of them. They are all a bunch of crooks.

That won't work. They will simply be replaced with those worse. Ooga booga.

Let's see...

We have interstate highways. Do you have any faint idea how much it costs to create highways and MAINTAIN them?

We have Medicare and Social Security. Do you want us to stop having them and ruin the future of our elders which they have worked hard to earn. We should reform our SS by increasing the age limit (when Medicare was first enacted, extremely few lived beyond the retrirement... now we need to up the age limit).

We have one of the most advanced military in the world and it takes the largest of our taxes.

We have public education that gives everyone the opportunity to learn and have better standard of living. That costs money.

We have gorgeous parks and they cost money to maintain it. Taxes pay for it.

We have smoking and drinking taxes because they are proven agents for premature deaths and we end up paying for their medical problems so tax their vices.

Now, go back to 100 years ago... is it great? Hardly.

"An estimated 20% of American children live in poverty today. More lived in poverty in 1900 and an estimated 20% lived in orphanages because their parents couldn’t afford them."

"In the nineteenth century the age of sexual consent in several states was nine or ten."

"We talk about pollution today, but one hundred years ago people thought nothing of dumping all kinds of things into streams and lakes and blowing toxic smoke into the air."

"At the beginning of the Civil War, there were proportionately as many abortions being performed annually as there are today."

"We understandably are concerned about all the additives put in food today, but one hundred and fifty years ago, food poisoning from “all-natural” foods was much more common than it is today."

RedBlueChristian Blog Archive The Myth of the Good Old Days

And they forgot to mention slavery, Jim Crow code, homophobia, women being properties, child labor, world wars, and so forth.

I am glad I live now, not 100 years ago.

I did not read anything else, and already saw false stuff here.

Taxes also paid $800 billion for this kind of crap.

I am so glad we are working hard so that the government can create robtic bees and discover why males don't like to wear condoms. And where would we be without the millions spent on signs to tell us the stimulus was paying for work on the road.:laugh2:

Press 9 if you do not get it.

Meh, some valid points, but obviously written by someone who really DOESN'T get it (despite his claims otherwise). BTW, being a journalist does not mean jack shit. You think journalists understand what's really going on in this country? LOL. That's a good one!

It's a lot more complicated than this. I love how the Tea Party (I am going to be on my best behavior and not call them "teabaggers" okay?) completely oversimplifies and recalls the "good ol days." Actually this, "Let's return to our roots!" mentality is exactly what's wrong with the Tea Party. It's a value system that does not accept or even leave open the possibilities for change. It is simply reactionary.

Taxes are no fun, and the situation we are in right now is totally FUBAR, but this article proposes nothing constructive--just a bunch of the same old loudmouth anger. Where is the call to action?

Oh, here it is:
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Sure, bub. I'm not disagreeing, but hey, why don't we all give ourselves a million bucks while we're at it and declare ice cream the most important component of the food pyramid.

100 years ago.. we had a national debt. Even so 200 years ago.

Yup.

A national debt has been an integral part of our economic system since it was founded. It is Alexander Hamilton's big legacy.

I think you have missed the point.

YOU'RE the one that doesn't get the point on WHY we pay taxes.

What makes our country prosperous is our taxes. We provide education which in turns creates more jobs for them and we have roads which help transport our goods and so forth.

In the old days, where taxes were little - their standard of living wasn't impressive at all. None of them had what we have now.

And you actually think by reducing taxes or having no taxes on them, we'd have a better standard of living? No way. It doesn't work that way at all. Cite a country where there is no to low tax rate and has the excellent standard of living as we do. Bet you'll find none.

It's appalling that our Republicans are advocating cutting down on our taxes yet ignoring that our deficit is getting out of control. Just exactly how will we pay our deficit if we cut our taxes?

Oh as for national debt - we had it since Civil War.

So stop complaining about taxes - they provide you what you take for granted.
