very happy to have found this place, wanting to do my responsibility in elevating disabled perspectives

I go by Danger, and I am on a journey to create animated stories about minorities and the people we don't see represented enough. I've joined this forum to learn what I can about the deaf community and culture. I will do my best to carefully analyze my behavior to avoid being offensive or insensitive, and I deserve no patience or energy from you. Those kinds of things I think deserve compensation. I'll be posting an ad in the job section with more information. Thank you for creating a forum open to people like me who aren't part of the deaf community!!

Oops - wanting to do your responsibility? In elevating disabled perspectives? Why is it your responsibility? And who is the disabled one here? Do you consider insensitive or offensive people disabled?

Thanks for helping me, maybe my wording is off. I feel it is a responsibility of people who are abled and privileged to create a society that is accessible to everyone. i dont think it should all be on people who are disabled. By disabled I'm referring to the disabled community as a whole, though am I wrong in saying that here? (I am a part of the disabled community, though I am physically abled.)
I'm not sure what your last question means. I don't consider insensitive or offensive people disabled, I'm not sure how that came across that way. I don't want to say something that is insensitive or offensive.

by elevating disabled perspectives, I mean listening to those perspectives and using the influence I have to help others also listen to them, like providing more and accurate representation in media

I think what you are missing and therefore rubbing people the wrong way is (and Analog, please correct me if I am wrong) Is that the Deaf community doesn't need saving or a hearing hero to elevate them. They have PLENTY of Deaf Talent to do that for themselves, by themselves. They don't need us to do that for them. The only thing we can do is not get in their way and if we have a deaf role, give it to a real Deaf person. Not an actor that learned a few things.

True, was trying restrain myself, if one wants to come along side to see what they, how they, may help welcom. When one thinks there privileged I see that the same as ,superior, and others are inferior or victims. We can all over come our challenge or mitigate them, in the land of the blind the sighted one is disabled

I agree. Well said. Restraint must have been hard. It also illustrated our point. You don't need saving. The only way to cure ignorance is exposure to the truth.
