I'm a recently diagnosed hearing autistic lesbian with a history of childhood neglect and mental health difficulties. I'm determined to spend my future helping out other kids with similar struggles. I want to become fully fluent in ASL and do work with kids with past traumas who may use ASL to communicate due to going nonverbal, or other autistic children, who prefer to use sign instead of speech. I think everyone should have an interest in learning sign language, and know at least a little bit of deaf history and culture.
