Here in Finland doctors used to do that to me all the time. They treat us Deaf as total crap and openly refer to us as retards. This may be "world's happiest country", but only because Deaf and disabled never count towards that number. I no longer deal directly with doctors, pharmacies, etc...

I have not been able to drive my car as there is no way to defog the windows or de-ice the glass. Somebody said to try using WD40 on the glass. I did and it would work.... twice. After 2 journeys, I am back to fog and ice. Someone else said use shaving foam on the glass and I did. It worked...

As an author I could suggest... have you considered writing? With the pandemic, you would not need to come into other people unnecessarily. It is a rewarding career and you can either publish for sales or donate books to your local library in paper or digital format

I also wear ear plugs since Koronavirus hit. They all say in news protect eyes, nose, mouth, wash hands, wear mask, face shield, gloves etc but no mention of ears. To me, common sense says also protect ya ears and brain so also why i wear ear plugs. Always tinnitus gets worse seconds after...

I wish I could say yes, but I very much doubt it. I once watched KELA tear up a letter from World Federation for the Deaf (WFD) right in front of me as KELA would not allow me use of an interpreter in official conversations such as medical or legal meetings.
