Cochlear Implants in noisy bars and nightclubs

cdmeggers, that's true. And, I will look into the sound strategy software if anyone want for as a reference in listening in noisy environment. And, again I agree 100% on mapping tweaking, it do make a difference once you become familiar with how it does sound, so you can tune the loudness and...

*thumbs up* Cool! You do your business, and we will do ours, hoichi. You are the one of the likes who actually make many other deaf peoples look bad. *clap clap clap*

I second BleedingPurist - leviathan54, I can only recommend so much it falls on you to make the decision for yourself, as far as the brands of CI goes, and what is your expectations before and during CI usage. If you can do a bit research, you would be able to make a better, well-informed...

Cochlear Implants in noisy bars and nightclubs

*facepalm* It is not always an option. At least not everyone have the patience to learn ASL. Before you say it's easy, IT IS NOT. You have to understand language barriers a bit better before you jump into conclusions. Holes in my skull? Hell if I care, you have HOLES in your skull already, it's...

Cochlear Implants in noisy bars and nightclubs

Then, as a simple question, why did you provoke the others? Look, I was NOT forced to get CI, like some people here would (wrongly) assumed, rather it was out of my choices - hearing aids were 100% useless to me, I can't even hear quiet sounds so it was a primary decision factor along with few...

Cochlear Implants in noisy bars and nightclubs

I see a few trolls. What a sad and sorry mess this forum thread have rapidly turned into. 1. I do sign and I have CI. 2. the OP was ASKING for what CI brand he/she should get. 3 I am going to put the answer straight. Whatever CI brand you're planning to get, I recommend to look for one with...

LOL I am deaf, what difference do it make?

    To All CI users.

Ah, good point. I did read up on university thesis on how Nucleus 22 / 24 and CII implants work - Nucleus uses fixed voltage source, so must switch electrodes one at a time (thus limiting stimulation pulse rate), while CII can independently switch all 16 electrodes at once across multiple...

    To All CI users.

Advanced Bionics, and Cochlear are good on updating the BTE sound processors on even the existent cochlear implant, AB Clarion CII (and HiRes 90k containing CII chips inside) being completely reprogrammable (CII is already capable of up to 200+ virtual channels yet to be tapped, only 121 is...

This. If you turn your CI off, you're deaf. CI is more of prosthesis for hearing replacement, not an outright cure, so in other word, I am still officially deaf.

Opinions on Advanced Bionics HiRes Optima 120 softwares

Ah, gotcha. I will retune my mapping on both ears, so I will give it a try (it would be good for the large 230 mAh Li-ion battery to last long enough for my likings).

I am the CI user, and the bottom line is; I am still stone deaf. If I turn it off, I can't hear anything anymore until I turn the sound processor back on. Even if I learn to speak, I still also use sign language as I have friends who are deaf, like me.

    To All CI users.

Advanced Bionics HiRes 90k user here. It's correct that not everyone are the same, and some doctors actually ask you during candidacy exam if you're born deaf as it's pretty important: it's due to how the brains are wired up. And, since not everyone has the same cochlea topology, it's...

Opinions on Advanced Bionics HiRes Optima 120 softwares

Since I have one AB Naida CI Q70 BTE sound processor already, for left ear, and am getting it programmed, possibly at the same time I get another Q70 pair for right ear to replace the 7-years-old Harmony BTE that's gradually falling apart, I am deciding on the software options to USE in the...

    Opinions on the SSDs

I guess, that's it, folks. Thanks for your replies. But if you want to give me some information, such as "how long have you owned the SSD, and did you lose data suddenly or slowly" or something like that, keep posting, I would appreciate it. Also, if you have old SSD that you are planning to...
