    Cochlear implants, do they help?

Late to the party... I am the same as posted above, one CI (so far). My hearing was getting so bad I was about to loose my career. My "hearing aid" professional(s) played games with needing stronger hearing aids, even when I asked about CI's. After the last set they could not help me and...

    Planing on getting CI

CountryGirl23, I totally agree with the above post. I went with Cochlear but brand is a personal thing. Also did my worst ear. Cochlear is direct to an iPhone and glad I went that way. I can say that environmental sounds are excellent. birds, crickets, water dripping, floor creaking when you...

Cochlear Kanso with New Profile Plus Implant

I could not use the Kanso also because of my thick head... :) Went to N7 and never looked back. It has rechargeable batteries, which is a plus! I let my hair grow a little longer and most people don't notice it. (matches color). Enjoy the journey! P.S. I started with a 5 magnet and have since...

    CI and tinnitus

Totally agree with meggers... I have had loud tinnitus most of my life. A CI, sorta like hearing aids bring in sounds you focus on. Because of this you don't hear the tinnitus until you take the CI off, then it is back. Some claim the tinnitus goes away completely, not my case.... BUT! I hear so...

Profoundly deaf - anyone like me, have CI?

Need to be assessed by a professional again. You will never hear like a teenager, period. But being CI, I haven’t understood speaking like I do now in 35 years. So if you are a candidate, it can help you. FWIW. I threw away the HA for my outher ear. Once I got a CI it was horrible, and hurt my...

    iOS update?

I updated and then had to re-login to the cochlear app. No big thing, except it took some time (slow net) to login in the middle of a meeting...

2 weeks into new CI and going crazy!

Practice, practice and more practice. Get Angle sounds on your computer. I listened to almost all of the TED talks just to get my ear used to what I was hearing. It takes time but is worth it....

    Nucleus 7 and iPhone

FWIW.. I have Nuke 7 and iPhone. the phone streams straight to the CI.. Phone and music. You still talk into the phone as normal. The sound is WAAAY better than putting it to your ear. IMHO. ALSO if you get the mini mic, you can plug in a FM radio, Ipod (or anything) and stream directly to the CI.

Welcome to the journey! This is just the start, piece of cake. :)

    Cigna and cochlear implants

A couple of years back we had Cigna. I found out that (almost) each group had a different plan. Our plan was decent, but a group from a local ship yard was horrible. Most of the doctors refused to accept from that group. That being said, your doctor and the cochlear manufacturer and help you...

How Do You Wake Up For Work?

I have a fitbit that I have been trying. I am slowly getting used to it. (have to set 3 alarms) I do NOT rely on it only so far... This is interesting, how bad is the shock? Tingle or stick your toe on an electric fence bad....

    One woman's View

Everyone has told me about "robotic" sounds for awhile... I am taking it in stride. I do strive to have TV and radio on as much as possible to "practice" hearing voices (and making sense of them). My audi just told me to have patience and I am taking her advice. I can see slow improvement, but...

    One woman's View

I personally don't give a flip what other people or "communities" think. I was told by a "VOC rehab" counselor that I have a disability.... But I can't get the good parking spaces in front of Wal-Mart... I was at the point where I could NOT fully understand conversations with HA's. And I...
