    Screwed up nucleus 5

My zypher has not done this to my n5s .. the zypher doesn't have the UV light. It does look like it was melted... it could be possible your zypher is going out. When did you replace your dry brick last? Was the coil touching the dry brick? Is there any signs of melted plastic on the zypher itself?

    ASL interpreter programs in Colorado?

what part of Colorado are you moving to? Front Range Community College has a good program. They are in Westminster, so north Denver. I live in Denver, and attend FRCC, although for their CIS department, although many of my interpreters have been through the FRCC IPP program

question for those with bilateral implants

My audi is the same, she is amazed at how well I am doing with my right... and honestly so am I. When it was turned on she told me I would HATE IT, and I didn't. it was weird, but I didn't hate it. I hate the left, but not the right. I can't say the CI actually does work better on my better ear...

question for those with bilateral implants

Thank you, and I also had my worst ear implanted. My left has always been my better ear, the right had NR for everything. I talked with my surgeon, and told him I would rather have my right done, because it had no response what so ever. He agreed that was the choice he would make for me as well...

Anyone with 1 CI and 1 Ha?

yeah, I know some people that say it sounded normal right off the bat, but many more who say it was very electronic. For me, its just a bunch of beeps and feeling of sound on the left side. On my right side though, its beginning to try to leave the electronic sounding world... I think if a...

    Cochlear device and exhaustion??

2nd CI didn't affect my balance, and it hasn't improved my comprehension at all... actually right now it is interfering with it... but then again, I have only had it for 3 days... only time will tell if it will raise my comprehension.

    Do HAs hurt?

this is new for her and she is only 16 months old... it takes time. when my hearing aids did anything for me, especially the first month or so of having the new set after refusing to wear them for about 4 years, when they first got turned on, it was a bit of a jolt... but then things settle...

question for those with bilateral implants

if you had sequential bilateral implants, after you got the second one activated... did it seem like sound was echoing? how long did it last? I had my second CI activated yesterday... and I can't understand speech with it at all yet... but its echoing like crazy... its almost like I hear it...

    Cochlear device and exhaustion??

Your brain is working overtime to hear and make sense of the "sound". Give it time. I get tired with mine... the first few weeks were the worst... every day got a little better, but now I have the second... I'm very tired again... and its only been on for about 4 hours...

    Hybrid CI's

Yes you can have sound recover on, but have compression off. Thats how I was when My HA's were useful... now my audi just has my HA turned up as loud as it will go

Could you please translate these sentences ?

this post is like me going onto a programming forum (I'm a programming student) and saying... hey... I have this code someone sent me... and I don't know what it does... I can't post it... but can you tell me what it does? sometimes the way students of ASL come of deafies and ask for us to do...

Can you learn ASL from a book?

ASL from a book isn't strictly... functional. books do the best they can at depicting the movements of the sign... but it isn't necessarily going to be accurate. Best options, immersion, go to Deaf events. Or... take a class. a book can only help so much... it is the interaction that actually...

    Hybrid CI's

sound recover is different from compression. Compression makes it so loud sounds don't get unbearably loud... my old audi (my HA audi that is) told me most adults aren't too fond of compression, and can understand better without it on. compression basically compresses the loud sounds, But sound...

All-day use of a cochlear implant

I don't quite understand your question... but... I have had odd sensations (my audi described it as facial stim, just not in the standard way) along my jaw line, which was due to being out of voltage compliance. Never had burning in the magnet area... personally... I need hearing breaks...

Can Hard of hearing people get a CI?

I think it does... I think it makes them 100% invalid. I'm happy my new audi gives me new words every time...
