Here is a comment made on a horse website about a possible explanation for the riding.
If it is true - then kudos to the rider for attempting to follow his dreams.
And praying no injury comes to that amazing horse!

Here is a comment made on the Fugly Horse of the Day website about a possible explanation for the riding:

I don’t believe the man is parallized from the waist down, but he is partially paralized to the extent that he must use a walker to walk. So he has some leg strength but not enough to reliably grip the horse. I think it is a bit disheartening to see so many people dumping on this guy without knowing the whole story. If you google “andarilho, criterios” you can find out more about this competition in Lisbon, Portugal. Give the guy a break for having the courage and tenacity to do this; those are not small jumps. The horse is sturdily built, and we can suppose that the rider will retire him before he is hurt in any permanent way.
If it is true - then kudos to the rider for attempting to follow his dreams.

I have a jumper of my own - and the original comment from FUGLY was correct - this jumper is sturdy.
I didn't wish to trigger any negativity. Just if both horse and rider are able, it seems that both will survive. I've seen far worse treatment of a horse - and this one did even pin its ears.
I don't advocate rough treatment of horses - in fact we have two rescue horses in our pasture now.
I just believe that readers deserved to know another aspect that might help explain the situation better.
He is not a heavy rider, neither am I. For the record, my horse's legs buckle when she lands wrong sometimes - just like a human's would.
I would just rather give someone the benefit of the doubt - obviously this rider would not be in competition if this were his typical riding style as an able-bodied person. That lends credence to the comment.
Have a good night.
Wow. This was my first experience ever with alldeaf.com and it is very disheartening. I stumbled across it on a google search for more information on this particular video. Being deaf, I was happy to see this kind of range of topics on alldeaf.com. I have no idea who the users are, as again - I had just registered yesterday and only added a possible explanation for some of the concerns.
I certainly did not expect instant negative response. I am sorry if my opinion offended anyone.
