Hi friends,

I have had severe and profound loss ranging from 70 dbl to 95 dbl.

I have an appointment at the audiologist for my new digital hearing aids. I have had analogs for 17.5 years and I'm tired of linear amplification. Soft sounds are too soft and louds sounds are disturbing to me with my analog. Therefore, I hope my new programmable digital aids can assist me much better. The public insurance company ( I don't know the right words , sorry ) will be approving my request on monday and I'll then go to my audilogist to select the right aid.

It's such a relieving thing for me. I have waited for years . Wish me good luck on monday.

Good luck!

Make sure that you trial your aids before you commit yourself to final purchase. Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks before you know they are really a good fit for you.

Let us know how you go!

Thanks and I'll be informing what's going on later

All the best for you and I'm sure you're very anxious to get this over with too! Let us know how it all goes if you wish to do so. ;)

Good luck, Highlands.. I hope you will find what you are looking for and hope you can hear again! :)

Thank you all :ty:

I'm busy with some bureaucratic procedures which are pretty boring . Anyway, today the audiologist fitted me with two digitals and I liked them. Speech was much clearer than my current analog and I was more comfortable with hearing through 'two' sides. Two hearing aids are really much more helpful than one.

Hopefully I can cope with legal processes on Tuesday :)

See ya later :grouphug:

Awesome! :)

Awesome, Highlands! Hope you get that beaucratic mess straightened out!

FYI, my deaf daughter got fitted with one digital HA on her left, her good ear about a month ago and her daughter, my 5-month old granddaughter got fitted two digital HAs. She enjoys hearing sounds more clearly and get to hear her daughter's babbling, especially her "MMMM" sounds when she wants something!

thanks . I finally got my digitals today. They have much clearer sounds.
I am more powerful on speech perception with two aids
My brain haven't had much difficulty in adapting digital sound even though I had used anologs for 17.5 years only on one side . I think sounds will be a little much clearer over time .

Here is my audiogram data:
----------------------------------
Left ear

75 DBL at 250 hz
85 DBL at 500 hz
95 DBL at 1000 hz
85 DBL at 2000 hz
80 DBL at 4000 hz
80 DBL at 6000 hz

pure tone average (500-2000 hz ) : 88 dbl (air),70+ dbl (bone)
speech recognition level : 85 dBL
----------------------------------
Right ear

80 DBL at 250 hz
95 DBL at 500 hz
95 DBL at 1000 hz
85 DBL at 2000 hz
75 DBL at 4000 hz
70 DBL at 6000 hz

pure tone average (500-2000 hz ) : 92 dbl (air),70+ dbl (bone)
speech recognition level : 90 dBL

umm.. my digitals are a little different from my analog.. My brain isn't fully get used to digitally compressed sound.. In analogs, sounds are amplified linearly but digitals are non-linear. My brain is also busy with adjusting to hearing through both ears.. I wore only one aid in the right ear for 17.5 years so my left ear is making a bit trouble . I'm sure that as my brain adapts to digital sound and hearing through two ears , I'll be enjoying more quality sounds.. I just need some more time, I suppose.:deal:

SmileyGin, do you wear hearing aid(s) ? :naughty:

Yes i do wear hearing aid analog and have been since 11 yrs old.. before that it was a body aid.. i HATE it.. LOL.. it was not comfortable. boy I was so glad to get the bte yes for my bday gift from a secret person. i still dont know who? :( i got the hearing aid and wore it for few hours then threw up.. lol.. and yes it was on my 11th birthday.. ugh! lmao

it does work for many years.. but not as clear as it ws back then.. i only can hear sounds.. but words.. sometimes nto clear.. and it can go up then come down.. i cant hear sometimes? when i cant hear its not worth to wear hearing aid? sometimes i think batteries is dead? i put new one in but not work? so i knew it is my hearing go away due to water .. thats why i have to take durietic pills to see if it help drain any out.. it does help but not fully clear as i would liek to.. with my ear aided it is in mild loss range, back then. but now?? its in moderate loss range so it does help somewhat.. depend on when it BEHAVE.. hehe.. :)

I think i will try digital hearing aid. The audiologist who i saw today said the digital hearing aid is strong compare to analog so I might try that on a trial basis to see if it help me or not?? Other patient is testing it out right now thats why i dont have it right now.. so I will let you know how that goes when its my turn.. ok.. :naughty: hehe.. ;)
