CHINGFORD'S Matthew Forsyth became the youngest medal winner at the European Deaf Ten-Pin Bowling Championships in Switzerland.
The 15-year-old (pictured) was up against adult competition but showed nerves of steel to bag a bronze in the singles event, where he was one of 109 competitors, and then take a silver in the trio section alongside Dominic Bates and Ray Lay.
Forsyth, of Yardley Lane, is also the first medal winner for the Great Britain Deaf Ten-Pin Bowling team and helped to play a part in the opening proceedings by carrying the Union Jack flag at the opening ceremony.
His performance in this championships and earlier success mean that Matthew is now the number one player for the U16 age group.

Proud mum Gerri said: "Matthew loves ten-pin bowling and of course he was delighted with winning the medals in Switzerland.
"He picked up a liking for the sport when he was about eight and has just grown with it ever since.
"The older he gets the more he likes it and we're very proud of him being the youngest medal winner.
"He was competing against adults but he just concentrated on what he had to do and it didn't seem to worry him."
Matthew, whose 12-year-old sister Paige is following in his footsteps, coming second in the nationals event earlier this year, is now looking ahead to further glory when he competes in the trials at Preston for the England Triple Crown event.
